The fifth was crazy but i actually wasn't so sure at the time. I just couldn't see him doing that again (if we did, i'd be rambling about putting him p4p #1 and madness like that). I'd name the sixth. That was when he went back to just doing his thing but dominating.

Did you enjoy it? I really enjoyed it.

Do you think leaving James Ali Bashir was Usyk's mistake?

Yeah, he was getting hit too much. It put me off him a bit as a HW prospect tbh. Then again, maybe Br is just really good? We shall see.

Yeah he was too stationary for my liking. He was covering up behind a high guard but Briedis was able to dig in a lot of heavy body shots to the ribs because he wasn't moving enough.

Briedis does deserve a lot of credit for being able to find those gaps all night but it wasn't the best strategy by Usyk, because they must've taken something out of him.

A new trainer is a must IMO.

Jirov? And on that note lacking the A level power virtually every other top CW has Usyk would be well served to develop that sweeping underhand left to the liver that Jirov perfected (Dale Brown KO) it can be a night ender even if you're not a Ketchel.

Like Dempsey or Louis Oleksandr is going to look more human against smaller, quicker, more skilled guys. When he has an obvious speed, mobility, and skill advantage it becomes very evident and he's excellent at capitalizing on it.

I agree with this too. But if he can fight eleven that hard, that's fine. And he probably coasted a bit thinking he had it in the bag. I **** myself when we got that 114-114 card and i bet he did too.

Late to this party but it seems the popular opinion on the fight is the same as how I felt watching it. Such a good fight, Breidis possibly underestimated by a lot of people coming into it but both guys deserve a huge amount of credit for that fight.

Definitely one of the more exciting and rewarding fights to watch and I feel there is little to complain about. Happy with the scoring and interested to see what's next for both.

I wasn't sold that Usyk would stand up against the bigger heavyweights and I am certainly no more convinced he would - however Briedis may not have superheavy power his speed, timing and combos were very impressive. You have to land the powerful shots for them to matter

I'm not sure to be honest because I don't know too much about Anber. I think Usyk's natural talent and ability, heart, and toughness is enough to get the job done against anyone at CW even without a top trainer in his corner, but the addition of one would be a really good idea. I wanna see Papa Loma take control of the reigns again. That's the best solution, IMO.

Yes that was a great fight, both guys came in shape. Even without any knockdowns this should be in top 5 fights of 2018 easily.

You have to take into account that he won't face any kind of movement like that of Briedis if he moves up to HW where he will always be the number one guy in that aspect against the current crop (maybe aside from Shades of Ali). You will always look more of a stiff against something like what he was presented in this fight.
If he can drag the fight past the midway point any one of them could be in trouble. Especially those with questionable cardio due to different factors, you can imagine.

This Usyk is more reckless and exciting, a little bit like young Pacquiao? Under Bashir those early rounds against Briedis would be far different.
But it made for a very exciting fight. And old Usyk would also settle for a decision against Huck not a stoppage :ggg

imo Gassiev is a much crispier textbook puncher and adjusts his feet a lot better than Briedis . He doesn't waste shots either like Bridis and his timing is better. Kinda like a CW Canelo only not as slick

Yes that's true but somewhere in between Bashir trained Usyk and this one might have served him better tonight IMO. But yeah, it was very exciting and great to watch.
