Oleksandr Usyk vs Michael Hunter on the Loma vs Sosa card

I agree that Beterbiev should have won that fight, but "breaking down" seems a bit over the top for me. We've discussed that one before though

None of those guys are really available, Gassiev and Lebedev are the only ones who don't have a fight scheduled or aren't spoken for as far as I know but getting a unification bout on an undercard isn't easy.

 

Michael Hunter is not one of the best in the world. Usyk is the best in the world. He should be fighting better opposition.

 

He should be chasing the best while staying busy against the best available opposition in the meantime. Sounds like you're just criticising for the sake of criticising.

 

I guess I just rate him higher than you and have higher expectations.

If you're happy with the fight, that's your choice. I just expect more from the number 1 fighter in a division.

 

All of those fights are unrealistic though, see below:

Gassiev: supposed to be fighting Glowacki next. Anyway, I'd be surprised if Gassiev's team wanted the Usyk fight right now, Gassiev is very promising but he's young and needs time to mature and improve.
Lebedev: very unlikely he wants to come to the States for Loma right after facing Gassiev
Glowacki: no need for the rematch, he's fighting Gassiev
Bellew: fighting Haye
Huck: fighting Briedis
Briedis: fighting Huck
Wlodarczyk: fighting Gevor
Dorticos: fighting Shumenov
Vlasov: fighting Lodl

 

None of the "better opposition" are available at the moment, see my post above.

 

I don't think this is a challenging fight for him, but I prefer if fighters stayed busy against the best available opponents instead of sitting on their asses and waiting for a big fight to show up.

If there's a name you want him to face on the april date, then be specific. Otherwise, you're just asking him to stay inactive with 11 pro fights under his belt unless an oppurtunity against a top name arouses.
