Oleksandr Usyk vs Michael Hunter on the Loma vs Sosa card

The specific man I want him to fight is Gassiev. That would be a fight between the 1 and 2 fighters in the division.

Failing that any one in the top ten would do.

Hunter isn't world rated, won't challenge Usyk at all and this fight does nothing really.

As I've said, I probably rate this man higher than either of you guys hence why I'm more disappointed than either of you guys.

 

Good fight... And Hunter is best of the American CW new blood. So definitely makes sense.

 

Decent enough matchup considering his activity. Hopefully he and Gassiev square of this year, Huck/Breidis winner would be fine as well.

 

I never consider any fight between a number one and a never ranked opponent to be decent.

 

Woww, didn't know about this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I think he's better than Fatih Keles(former mediterreanen cham in the ams, 7-0 in pros) and seems more polished than Avni Yildirim who's likely to fight in an eliminator this year. He can become contender at wide open 140 lb division.

Plus, he's from Uzbek descent. Those guys can fight.

Yeah you're right... I'm rating Hunter solely on his amateur pedigree, he's unproven as a pro but might have what it takes to make this interesting for a while. On paper the fight is bad, but it could turn out to be good... And as for the merit of the fight itself Usyk gets a pass for his activity since fighting for and winning the belt. Next defense ought to be a ranked opponent though, which I think is likely.

 

No you don't. Gassiev fight is not possible next by any means, so you're just asking him to stay inactive until he gets the #2 guy in the division, which is a shitty thing to demand from a guy with only 11 pro fights.

 

If you rated him as highly as I did you would be disappointed by the lack of a ranked opponent.

 

Activity is good but I prefer quality over quantity.

Mchunu and Hunter are not very inspired defences. Atleast Mchunu had once existed in the top ten.

But I would rather see him face one genuinely ranked opponent than 2 unranked opponents.

 

The unavailability of a ranked opponent is more than enough to excuse this fight. If he was going for this fight when Wlodarczyk was available and willing, you'd be right, but he isn't.

 

I'm probably going to be labelled a fan boy for the way I rank Usyk and for my expectations. I don't expect everyone to rate him the way I do.

 

Yeah but Glowacki, Mchunu and Hunter in a 7 month span ain't too shabby if I say so myself. I'm confident Usyk and his team will do everything possible to pursue big fights this year.

I'd like to watch the fighters I rate high as often as I can. I guess that's where you differ.
