Oleksandr Usyk vs Michael Hunter on the Loma vs Sosa card

interesting never seen hunter fight usyk should win I guess.

 

Yeah I'd rather watch them in the most competitive fights that can be made.

I said it to another poster but I prefer quality over quantity.

I'll probably be labelled a super fan or something but I just rate him that highly.

 

I don't disagree with you at all actually. But if the big fights can't be made at the time what harm is there in staying active?

 

I heard Eubank hide behind that excuse his whole career. I have no faith whatsoever in "keep busy" fights.

 

Besides.. He's getting great exposure fighting on these undercards. His promoters definitely are smart to keep him active and throw him on these cards from a purely business perspective.

 

Oh I'm with you on that... There are certain fighters who use that excuse to fight horrible low risk competition time and time again... But if there's a champion who goes out of their way to fight the best but also fights lesser opponents when big fights aren't available as well as to stay active then that's fine as well. Joe Louis is a great example of this.

 

Louis was criticized because his opposition usually were very uncompetitive but even the bum of the month club were mostly ranked contenders.

If a champion goes out of their way to fight the best you can forgive the odd tune up, I'd say that's like Danny Garcia for example. Maybe Usyk will prove to be one of those men, but until that's the case I'm gonna speak out at every turn.

How many of those have scheduled fights that you're happy with?

I despair over the match making we have to put up with.

 

Fair enough.. Who do you think Usyk should fight though? Bellew has business with Haye at HW, Huck and Breidis have a fight coming up, Gassiev and Lebedev had a 12 round war only 2 months ago. There aren't exactly a ton of options. Makubu, Viasov or Dorticos might be better fights than Hunter. But I can't think of a whole lot of other options that are on the table currently.

 

Ideally he'd have arranged a fight with Gassiev or Lebedev.

Failing that Makabu would have been acceptable or the others you list.

As number 1 I have higher expectations on him.

 

I'd have liked to seen Makubu personally lol. He has a penchant for facing and beating guys from the continent of Africa as a pro.

 

Makabu and Vlasov have a fight scheduled in march and Dorticos is supposed to face Shumenov next. Hunter is indeed the best available option(there are couple of more prospects on par with him). Mr. Lufcrazy wants him to stay inactive until he gets a top name, which may even take a year.

 

Correct.

Before this fight was made I'd already said I would be happy with Hunter simple because no one better is available.

 

So why aren't Gassiev or Lebedev available?

I know I'm sounding like a massive fanboy of Usyk, I just think he's the real deal and should be doing better than this.

 

See I rate Usyk a lot higher than you so the difference in disappointment is understandable.
