I think Usyk will weather the storm early and decision him. Morrison had stamina issues However, if Morisson lands hard and early, he could win. Usyk will have to box a perfect fight for 6-7 rounds. Can he do it? Yes, but if Morrison lands a couple of his beautiful and powerful combinations, it could be nights out. Usyk UD 12
Usyk in an easy night. Not sure where the legend of Morrison comes from, but the reality is that he got a dodgy draw with Ross Purity, struggled with Joe Hipp, struggled with shot Carl Williams, and was almost killed by Michael Bent. He was a well-marketed fringe contender.
Yuri Vaulin was out boxing Tommy for maybe three or four rounds until he was hit hard to the body and then started taking them to the head as well. Tommy had real power. Usyk is considerably better than Vaulin, but the question is the same. I think if Oleksandr stays away from the big left hook and utilizes his movement fully, he likely wins a decision. Tommy always has the HW punchers chances though.
I'd prefer to see Usyk against top bangers firstly, but Morrison was so limited that I'd still pick Usyk quite comfortably.
People forget how fast Morrison was. And he needs to land only ONE. Mercer who had a chin of granite said Tommy hit him the hardest. At this point I pick Tommy inside of 7. Might change if Usky proves he can handle power punchers at heavy.
The Russian Hype job has ONE Heavy on his record, the legendary Dragon Killer Super Tuff Chazzzzzzzzz Witherspoon, got marked up in the process and went rounds and rounds....... Morrison beat old Foreman who in his NEXT fight waxed highly rated IBF/WBA champ Michael Moorer who just dethroned Holyfield....... Morrison all day.
Usyk seems to be sheer quality thus far, and I'd pick him over Morrison on that basis.Tommy had a few gaps. That said it's not nearly as one sided as some people are making out. Tommy had good skills, big power and good speed. He'd be a handful.
Disagree. How many rounds would Chazz and Tony Bellewboo last with Morrison ? Tommy actually beat real Heavyweights and even in his losses was a dangerous opponent who nobody took lightly including ATG Lennox Lewis.
I think Tommy would KTTFO and probably early. But it's never been Usyk's style to roll his opponents. He lets them work a bit, sees the landscape and then gets to work dismantling them. Usyk is a good defensive fighter, and if Tommy doesn't get him out early I think Usyk will open the taps later in the fight and run away with it. Stylistically, I think Usyk would have the tools to deal with Morrison. I'm far from a Morrison hater, though, and I think he'd have chances of his own. It's probably too early to start picking Usyk over proven heavies, tbh, because I'd like to see him in there with somebody with a bit more pedigree. He handled Joyce and Chazz no problem, but let's see more.
I just dont think he will weather the storm , he is no defense wizzard and gets hit quite a bit as evidenced by his face and real Heavies hit far harder than Bellew etc. He is getting old and if he does not step up anytime soon and beats some top ten guys he will be a never was as far as Heavies are concerned., yes he has skills but going on to his mid thirties for Heavyweight glory and not taking on any real challenges is a concern for any un biased observer......could would should...eventually you got to do it.
