How'd Spong even get into the rankings? And I thought Usyk was trying to prove himself with monsters to be the man at heavyweight?
You can attack it. You can defend it. Both side would probably be right in a way. in my opinion it's incredibly risky. Kickboxing produces hard men, and Spong was at the tippy top for a long time. He is a dangerous offensive fighter..Explosive and a reasonably hard puncher. I don't really see that point of it. Usyk doesn't need the ranking, he already has that. Spong doesn't quite have the name recognition in the hands only game and won't help Usyk sell out a Chicago arena as most Surimanese Americans live in Florida. To me I think it's a ballsy move, which probably won't blow up in his face but will be harder to rebuild if it does. I don't have high expectations for Usyk at heavyweight compared to others on here. I'm just glad he is fighting and hope he is fully fit.
What the **** happened? The site just vanished from existence for about 3 hours, and then poof, it reappeared.
Likely very very easy work for Usyk. I remember reading reports of Spong struggling big time with - I think - Perea. Kickboxers tend to transition pretty well but, levels init. Still I'm kinda into it given his kickboxing background. Shame Takam fight can't be done since he changed up promoters. There isn't much else out there in terms of available guys
You keep saying 'clearly' after you've made an assumption as a basis for an opinion. None of us know why he followed the career path he chose. Clearly.
Can you link us to one of the reports where it said Spong struggled with Perea big time? Please, thanks.

Thanks, quite a harsh critique, but fair play. "From there this fight went back and forth and really could have been scored narrowly for either man. If Tyrone was compromised physically, this is a somewhat forgivable struggle at least." He definitely did break his hand, because there was video footage of him visiting the surgeon/medical professionals to get treatment and phsyio following the bout. Again, Perea was way more experience in boxing than Spong, and Spong won convincingly with a broke hand.
I've been unable to find footage on YouTube of the fight, haven't checked the other sites yet as just haven't had much in the way of time. Either way, I don't give him any real shot at beating Usyk in the least bit but it's plenty interesting given his high KO rate and kickboxing background. I'll take this over Fesodov or someone like that
Yeah his chances are very slim, I am under no illusions, but Spong is a solid fighter who brings class, warrior spirit, talent, skill, precision, power... he is a good opponent and they are similar size. Going to be very exciting, as Spong is quite interesting in close range, and on the counters, he can suprise you with his KO power. Spong vs Duut (completely random Kickboxing match) always cracks me up... as Duut really wanted to win lol This content is protected
Again, presenting a narrative of: Povetkin >> Takam >> Fedosov >> Spong ...is disingenuous or uninformed IMO. Realistically it goes more like: Povetkin >>>> Spong > Fedosov >> Takam, at this point. All a downhill curve relative to Povetkin, but it hasn't been a straight nosedive. More like an EKG.
