Vitali's improved toughness over his brother wouldn't make much difference against Usyk - he'd lose comfortably on points. Wlad would do better against Usyk than Vitali IMHO.
I can just picture Vitali in a state of confusion, with his stiff wide stance and raised eyebrows, trying to throw that weak jab and useless RH, leaning back with his hands down, and just getting circled and hit at will by Usyk. Then finally Usyk sticks around too long for a big combo and 6'7 Vitali lands a clean steel hammer arm-bomb ... Nothing happens. Because it's crap. Usyk just smiles and gets back to work. Finally the fight is over and Vitali has his panda eyes like the Johnson fight and talks about the time he threatened Corrie Sanders after the Wlad fight and how he's disappointed in Wlad for not threatening Usyk in the ring, and then also gives a lecture on why the pen is mightier than the sword and that's why he wants to be mayor and turn a blind eye to massive corruption in his political party.
Wlad would ko usyk because he is the best big man at fighting smaller guys in the history of boxing. Vitali doesn't even come close to wlads technical ability and jab and speed. So usyk would outhustle vitali
Both brothers would lose on points to Usyk if the referee does not allow clinching which is for disqualification
Vitali is so underrated. Usyk has not fought anyone like Vitali who gave Lennox one of his toughest fights and was super unlucky to not get the rematch we all deserved. Yes, his resume is thin as it was such a poor era, but there was an unbelievable fighter inside him. His toughness, his jab, his physicality, he would make it a street-fight and make it his own fight against Usyk. This guy was SO much better than Anthony Joshua. I always thought Vitali would KO Wlad as well if they fought, I can't imagine what Vitali would do to AJ. Usyk might win a couple of rounds but for me Vitali would overpower him and give him too much damage. For me Vitali 11th round TKO.
Usyk has the gift to be able to adapt his strategy to each opponent. Vitali as other with a big size could have many problems to hit a not static fighter like Usyk. Besides Vitali never had a good guard.
He fought a shot, unfit and unmotivated Lewis and still lost - having fought well, but still lost. The rematch would only have told us whether Lewis could get more interested in a rerun or whether he'd fade further - prime Lewis was levels on Vitali... Which is fine, Lewis is quite probably the H2H GOAT - but it doesn't make Vitali instantly special. Wlad achieved far more and was much better technically - he was always the better of the two.
I sure as heck would not count out Vitali. He was long in reach, had good power, fought smart, and very underrated defense w/ his lean back approach.
Prime Lennox (1999) would have probably got the better of Vitali, although it still would have been a close fight. Remember Vitali was actually winning that fight in 2003, and Lennox didn't want any more of Vitali despite the conclusion of their fight screaming a rematch. For me, I don't think Wlad's chin would have coped with Vitali at the time. I think 'much better technically' is a stretch. Maybe not as technical as Wlad, but he more than makes up for it with his incredible work rate, aggression, chin, power, and still very good technically. Wlad had the better career and legacy, however Vitali for me would have beaten Wlad if they had fought.
in my opinion people do not account for the obvious gap in skill and talent enough. wladimir was the much more impressive boxer if anything vitali is terribly overrated, neither marquee victories, exceptional performances or great wins. did beat up a geriatric shannon briggs though
