Douglas = Most Underrated HW CHamp of all time 'Almost had him ko'd in the 10th' - not really, he landed a few good punches but Buster wasn't close to going, didn't hold on or anything and he still won the round
Notice that McCall asked 4 a suitable sparring partner for his preparations for Douglas but didn't get 1
Thank u again. I noticed d berbick fight which i already had btw . Didn't have the Tucker fight really . What I lack now are the Fergusson-McCall-Norris-Tucker fights , yes , I already have and watched 3 times Norris vs Tucker #1. Reggie Johnson vs Tarver is another missing fight. Same for Douglas' early losses .
Ofcourse not he was pro-sparring partner, he could have got a rangy sparring partner if he or his management shelled out the money for 1. Douglas always would have handled him pretty easily imo though
he fought for money , you expect him to use his own purse 2 pay for sparing partner ? how many fighters have ever done so ? Do you think Douglas is so better than Lewis & Akiwande ? would he have stopped Rahman in 2 out of 2 times ?
Douglas didn't want to be a boxer his father forced him into it and he just went through the motions and in some early fights was said to have given up pretty much. So for the majority of his career wasn't that motivated. For the run from Berbick, McCall and Tyson he got motivated. Before the Tyson fight he lost his mother who he considered his 'best friend'. He showed against Tyson allot of heart and passion we'd never seen from him before. Then against Holyfield all his passion was seemingly gone again. The Douglas who beat Tyson beats Akiwande (I think Akiwande is actually very underrated) and Rahman 2 out of 2, I think he gives Lewis problems, he has a better jab than Lewis, is faster and more fluid, but don't know if he wins. Lewis is the bigger, better puncher and more aggressive and more will to win. As for the sparring partners someone has to pay for them.....
would not be an easy fight, rahman was driven that night but Tyson would knock him out. That version of rahman was no better than 89' frank Bruno and Tyson was plagued with all the same chaos and prep of Tokyo when he beat Frank.
