This months Ring. Oliver McCall says who had the best: Jab = Larry Holmes Strength=Frank Bruno Puncher = Lennox Lewis Fastest Hands =Buster Douglas Defence=Mike Hunter Footwork=Bruce Seldon Chin= Larry Holmes Smartest=Larry Holmes Skill=Larry Holmes Overall = Larry Holmes
I had forgotten about Mike "The Bounty" Hunter. Another "what if" type fighter. Died: 2006-02-08 (Age:46) A very tragic story if you want to research.
Hunters fight with Biggs for the North American hw title is on utube. Hunter came in as a late sub for Tony Tubbs and won. He was rather unorthodox but effective.
Wow, except for Douglas having the fastest hands (?) that might be the most plausible "best I've faced" list I've seen. Bruno and Lewis could possibly trade spots for strength and power, but any scent of bull**** here is surprisingly faint, at least to my nose. edit: Oh damn, I spoke too fast. Holmes overall? Over Lewis? If he fought thirty-year-old Holmes I could buy it, but 46 year old Holmes? Man, that was so close to being the best response I'd seen to this questionnaire.
I think you guys are giving him too much credit. He's repeatedly naming the guy he had his proudest moments against, Holmes (he had some of his least proud moments against Lewis). Pretty much par for the course. Short of chin, he could fill everything with Douglas and Lewis.
I see no problem with this list . If anything he would have chosen Lennox because he knocked Lewis out .
