Oliver McCall vs Ernie Terrell

There are only 2 certainties in this matchup:

1-It goes the distance. Both had great chins, survival skills, and defense. Both could be very cautious.

2-It would be boring as hell. They would not be able to knock each other out, and they both had a habit of just staying in 1st gear refusing to change their approach or pace. Lots of ugly clinching, leaning, spamming jabs, etc. One of the judge's would probably be catching up on some much needed sleep by the 7th round.

A motivated in-shape McCall would win a narrow decision. But if he's going through a drug bender, lacks the drive, or feels discouraged, Terrel steals it. Not one person in the entire stadium would want to see a rematch even if it ended in a draw.

 

I’ll go with that. But do you think there’s no chance that McCall could lay out Terrell with the kind of right hand he clocked Lewis with ?

 

As Larry Merchant once said "boxing is the theatre of the unexpected". Since most self proclaimed experts like...well i wont say but its posters who like to use the ignore button when you challenge their opinions, lol, believe that two good chins and defense will take the fight to the cards is when I say someone is getting knocked out.

 

In theory he could but Terrell hid his chin behind those long octopus arms and according to Liston would “hug you more than his wife” so I’m not sure he would be in a position to. It must be mentioned though Terrell’s stamina wasn’t the best when you forced him to fight at a pace he wasn’t comfortable with. Terrell was all but done by the 12th round against Williams in their rematch.

 

McCall by ko. Replay of the Akinwande fight. Terrell doesn't have the power, and McCall is stronger and roughs him up stopping him in 8-9 rounds.

 

Sure, there's a small possibility that the monster right hand that felled Lewis could take Terrel out. But you have to remember McCall set that up because of a flaw Emmanuel Steward saw in Lewis stance. I don't think Terrel makes that mistake walking into such a shot. Terrel had much more responsible defense and was more cautious than a young Lewis and arguably a better chin too.

 

Terrell was better than Akinwande and had far better chin

Seriously? - Ernie Terrell was one of the most basic and uninspired fighters I’ve ever watched. He threw up his hands and was very modern which is very bad at slipping for a reason, he smothered and tried to block everything against anyone who was any good. He fought like this “stop, start- attack - defend” a fighter is perpetually violent and should be making every effort to do damage watch Napoles, everything was to find a way to hurt the other guy. I think Oliver was a bit better than Terrell who is just an Ali beneficiary. Who would want to watch this?

 

Sorry for the late response Pug I just saw your post after I un-ignored myself due to a disagreement me myself and I had lastnight. Luckily we talked it out so im back.
I figure if i can agree to disagree with BoB then there is hope for the future.

Btw most recently a stripper i met tied a knot with the stem of a cherrie while only using her tongue.
Whats funny is I was able to do it too so we got married that night because what are the chances right!
Anyway Elvis told me that if it wasent for me his chapel would have gone out if biz.

Elvis reminded me that I have been married there 33 times with 33 different strippers. Lol! Life is awesome!

 

MPD is a tough thing to live with. I’m glad you now have the horde under control and in alignment.

Maybe you and that stripper should go on AGT - those are uncommon skills you’ve described there.

I reckon Elvis would’ve been more than happy to use you both as his support/warm up act - “Viva Le Tongues”.

 

I would have loved to go on AGT with Cinnamon but my request to annul the marriage license was approved yesterday and now she wont talk to me.
I think im done with the quickie weddings for now.
