Oliver McCall vs. John Hopoate

Power is the last thing a boxer loses. McCall dropped Lennox Lewis with one of the greatest, in my opinion, planned (http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=7073&more=1) one punch KOs in world title history (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz_ZIP_DVDw go straight to 4:30). Check boxrec (http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=451&cat=boxer) and you will see he has 37/52 KOs in his career.

A chin is known to break down over time, but check any thread about the best chins in boxing and McCall's name keeps coming up (http://www.***********.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-5144.html).

Hopoate bet that McCall had aged enough that he could pound that chin into oblivion. In hindsight a totally illogical assumption since McCall just KTFO Hopoate who was totally open to power shots.

 

I forgot to mention that Hopoate backs straight back when he is hit - certain disaster in boxing.

 

Hoppa lost this fight because he has zero skills as a boxer. Yes he is a tough guy on the footy field or in a pub brawl but he is absolutely hopeless at boxing. He might be able to win fights on the Australian heavyweight scene but that isn't saying much now is it. I respect him for giving it his all but please don't make comments such as he only lost due to his stamina.

its a wonder they took him over there comon sence tell you to stay and fight locals with the name that he has got here in OZ ! but on the other hand would have been good if he pulled it off but the odds were always stacked against him he might need a better adviser.

 

Its all about the cash mate...he would get 10 times what he gets here.

Also he would have thought he would have done better and got invited back on another card.....but dont see that going on now.

Anyway hes still aussie champ so hes got some good fights back here....maybe after 7 or 8 more he may learn how to box....hes only had 12 fights

You're a funny enough guy. You can ask many posters on ESB, and they will tell you that not only do I respect all fighters, but I post well too. I do have respect for all fighters, John included, but it irks me when everybody keeps referring to Oliver (a friend of mine) as old and such.

I think Hoppa should go back to Jamie Myer he seem to do the the best for Hoppa's Carreer !
