McCall was very focused for the first fight.I just rewatched the fight, MCcall was all business.Lewis landed 1 or two good right hands and about 6 or seven stiff jabs to MCcall in the near 2 rounds the fight lasted.Lewis and McCall started trading punches about 5 punches each and lewis got caught flush and went down hard,Lewis got up wobbly as everyone has already seen this fight will know.MCall should get more cred for this legit win.Lewis's worst loss and true loss while was being serious and not lazy like in the rahman fight.
Quick stoppage no doubt, but very very poor fight plan from Lewis thinking he could KO a man with a concrete head. Lewis was hurt badly. I've seen fighters hurt worse be allowed to continue though, but it's a minor argument really. A fair and legit loss to a guy that had a plan (McCall) and followed through with it. A good loss to have, he was a much better fighter for losing this fight and getting Steward in his corner.
Lewis was still young, the ref saved his future, may have been a drastically different future had he suffered a beating like Ray Mercer put on Tommy Morrison... Lewis being a warrior always threw haymakers when hurt, McCall was the one guy that tactic would be a really bad idea against...
mccall has an over rated chin..... lewis is the only guy he fought that could punch...throw in frank bruno..... other than that he has a **** resume of guys who can crack......
getting hit with "1 punch" and the fight being stopped..is a little different than getting hit with 14 unanswered punches like morrison - mercer.... the ref did nothing but ruin a fight before it got started..**** stoppage good thing they didnt stop the fight with bert cooper and michael moorer after round 1..and he suffered 2 knock downs... I thought the stoppage was fine. You can't be stumbling when the ref is seeing if your ok to continue, Lewis was almost falling over.
If my memory serves me, Lewis was ko'd both times he got knocked down and protested both stoppages, two different refs. As pointed out above, he was counted out the second time around, not much to protest...Versus McCall, he stumbled backwards into the ropes which stopped him from going back down, then stumbled to the side and then into the ref, who then stopped Lewis from falling down and then stopped the fight...Watch it again, it was a good stoppage...
so anytime you stumble, fights over? ever heard of recuperating powers? arturo gatti wouldnt be the legend he is if they stopped everyone of his fights because of a knockdown... heavyweight champions of the world who are undefeated, have to be given the benefit of the doubt after getting punched one time and being knocked down one time.... it was a ****ing horrible stoppage
ok **** sucker...tell me why you think mcall has such a great chin? because of his WARS with Mike Tyson? Ray Mercer? Razor Ruddock? Evander Holyfield? George Foreman? Tommy Morrison? Riddick Bowe? Michael Dokes? Tim Witherspoon? oh wait, he some how managed to fight NONE of them must have been these killers he actually fought Tim Morrison (tommys brother) Orlin Norris Juan Carlos Gomez Timur Ibragimov Fres Oquendo Sinan Samil Sam Jesse Ferguson Francesco Damiani you know **** about boxing...im sure you heard mccalls chin was granite so many times on here that you just use that as your own opinion...now **** off and try to learn something on your own
