For some reason I was thinking about this match-up today.... Oliver is a very underrated fighter but how would he fare against Rock?
I'm thinking if fighting Lennox Lewis made him cry, fighting Rocky would likely make him go completely bat **** hysterical.
If McCall gets serious like he did against Yamplier Diaz and Akiwande he can rock the rock and at least knock him down . If he doesn't , then Rocky can actually outwork him en route to a UD
prime McCall was no shot Joe Louis , fragile Ezzard Charles , fragile and old Archie Moore or old Arnold Cream , he was a hard hitting HW whom was also one of the most durable if not the most
I think he could too, odds would be on Rocky winning on points but i could see McCall giving him real problems with his strength, durability and respectable power.
rocky by unanimous decision. get real people. Marciano was in a different class. Mccall in his prime lost to 5'11 cruiserweight Orlin Norris. Rocky was vulnerable to fast handed snipe counterpunches, not slow powerful bombs. McCall would never hit rocky cleanly in his crouch, while rocky would go to town on a big stationary target like McCall. Rocky would be bending, weaving, dipping, in his crouch at all sorts of angles and then pop up with huge left uppercuts and powerful overhand rights all over McCalls body. He would completely outwork McCall down the stretch. Only McCalls chin keeps him on his feet. McCall was a powerful durable heavyweight with a monster right hand, but he was very limited compared to Marciano. I think Rocky outhustles, outworks, and outmanuevers McCall on the inside all night. Marciano had enough physical strength to prevent McCall from manhandling him in the clinches.
Your references are so incomplete it's a joke ... you compare Marciano to Norris based on size and leave out that they were totally different types of fighters .. Norris was a slick, elusive fighter ... I try to take you seriously because I admire your knowledge of certain time periods but you are an emotional kid when it comes to arguing a point based on facts ... Ray Leonard was 5'10" too so why not throw him in ...
