i wouldnt doubt of cedric boswell knocks out the iron chinned mccall but at age 45 and a whopping 259 lbs and being a last min sub.....he will loose and perhaps be stopped:smoke:smoke:smoke:smoke
He was 253lbs against Fres Oquendo in December so I don't see that as a problem. Has Oliver ever been shook up?? Best chin in the game so I don't see this fella testing it
Agree - when he lost his mind against Lewis he dropped his hands and just took Lewis's shots using 0 defense. He never once looked hurt from the punches.
259 aint all that bad. McCall took it on short notice. I think it's safe to assume that McCall is not financially secure and versus another over 40 HW I think he'll do what he has to do with that chin and power to get the W one way or the other so that he can keep getting money fights.
hes not in the best shape hes ever been, but hes not in the worst either. His weight has always fluctuated. He was really cut up at 338 agaist Gomez, but didnt perform as well as he did at 253 against Oquendo. I think he is best around 245 at his age, but I wouldnt count him out based on what he weighed for this fight. I think the huge difference in experience against quality fighters will favor McCall. I wouldnt be surprised if Oliver stopped him or won a very close decision.
That was 14 years ago, 32 fights ago, nearly 200 rounds later and 22lbs heavier. He may have had the most granite chin in boxing, and perhaps does still have an exceptional one, but it will only be a matter of time before he is put down. People used to think Tua had a granite chin, but he got rocked and put down by Barrett. Don't be suprised if the same happens to McCall at some point in the next couple of years. I seem to remember being impressed with the way that Cedric Boswell made Roman Greenberg look like a complete amateur (although he was always rather sloppy). He's almost at the same weight as he was for that fight, and he looked pretty sharp then. However, I don't know what his form has been like recently, but if he is up for this I would think that a clear UD12 for him, or even a ref stoppage, would be the most likely outcome.
Age deteriorates your punch resistance. Still, old man McCall is in better shape then most of today's fat heavyweights.
Age, short notice, and a near career high in weight, points to McCall getting beat tonight. I don't think Boswell can ko McCall but he should win a comfortable decision.
