Battle of quinquagenarian heavyweights on the next edition of "CountryBox" - which just so happens to be tomorrow, Tuesday, February fourth. McCall - thirty years removed from his reign as WBC HW champ - is still trucking at the age of 59, and has stated his ambition to compete at least briefly into his sixties as he wants to hit four full decades as a pro (meaning until after this coming November 2nd). His most recent appearance - at Tennessee's Texas Troubadour Theater last November on CountryBox #25, knocking out Stacy "Bigfoot" Frazier - made him the oldest ever professional boxer to step in the ring for a sanctioned match, beating the record set by his old sparring partner Mike Tyson only four days prior. Cobia, currently 51, has had a less storied career, needless to say. He made his pro debut less than a week after his 39th birthday against cross-state rival Frereti "Fred" Solia Spitzenberg and lost by shutout - but would eventually avenge the defeat twice over to win their trilogy. His only real notable opponent in his initial three-year run was Gerald Marcus "El Gallo Negro" Washington - lasting less than a minute and a half in his sophomore outing. He last fought in 2015 and has been making a comfortable living as deputy sheriff in Davis County, Utah pulling down six figures. Cobia has a 2" height advantage. McCall has a 6½" reach advantage.
If he wins, McCall will have 61 victories and potentially 40 by kayo. If he wins, Cobia will pull level at .500 with a 4-4-0-2 record. IB Funfact: neither man has ever fought to a draw. This is scheduled for six rounds.
