Shavers was being battered in round 15 against Ali in '77 New York... Peace....

I think this one would come down to durability. McCall didn't have enough power to put a focused Shavers out quickly, while Shavers didn't have the skills to match his power that he'd need to put McCall away quickly. Shavers' jab would surprise a few people in this fight, because a good stiff jab was very effective against McCall.

McCall had the better durability and tended to take the later rounds (against Holmes, Seldon, Bruno, Akinwande etc.) so he's my pick.

If McCall ever quit in sparring its because you're suppose to take a break once a sparring partner gets nailed wickedly and is either dizzy or stunned.... It's sparring; not a real fight with money on the line...

McCall's chin is carved outta MT. Rushmore....

This would be a good fight but I think you have to make McCall the favorite. It would be a case where he could deal with what Shavers is handing out better than vice versa. I wouldn't completely write Shavers off, if he were to catch McCall with some big shots early he could make McCall tentative enough so he wins a decision. But, the most likely scenario is McCall by mid-late rounds stoppage in a very exciting fight.

I think if Shavers were matched with guys with shakier chins and McCall with sturdier guys the match ups would be more interesting. Put Shavers in with Cleveland Williams, Patterson, or even a modern guy like Davaryl Williamson and those are even more intriguing. Same with McCall, put him with guys like Mercer, Lyle, or even Rahman.

I pick the dude who used to spar with Tyson. I mean Lennox hit him with some crazy punches in their second fight and Mcall didnt even budge.

But, then again, he could just let it go like he did against Bruno.
Shavers did go the distance with Ali+Holmes and gave them tough fights.

One thing which ISNT happening in this fight is Mccall getting Kod By Shavers

Just because a guy can take a punch doesnt mean he wins. Oliver Mcall dropped a lot of fights to mediocre guys, certainly not as good as Shavers. Get a clue people, Mcall was a limited one trick pony. Guy knocks out Lennox Lewis with his eyes closed, and hes a giant killer.

Neither McCall or Shavers were vastly skilled..... But, no doubt, McCall was better equipped than Shavers on the whole....

Nevertheless, its a damn good pairing on paper.... Fans would pay to see "McCall-Shavers" in a 10 rounder being both men are young and active...
