Thanks Olu i'm keeping allright. There's a lot to like about Ajose's style,he's obviously a talent. It's just he seems to have been hanging around at domestic level for a long time now.Obviously for various reasons he's avoided but i think there's a bit of impatience and frustration on here amongst believers,non-believers and undecided's to see him step up! I really do hope he delivers,he always comes over as a good lad.
I tried to approach Ajose after the fight to congratulate him when that fat, idiot woman started shouting. What an areshole. The were saying Wright was robbed- made me laugh. Ajose will go on to be a champion of the world i'm pretty sure of that but he won't have any easy fights at world level. I don't think Ajose skills will please everyone as he is strictly a counter-puncher with moderate power. But for me that it was great watching him go to work and I loved the way he took away Wrights jab. I also like the way he shimmied out of the corner etc.. all these things will go amiss to most I feel but that cleverness will become more apparent once he starts plying his trade at the heighest level.
We arrived just after, apparently the lad he drew with was a good quality amateur. Mo Khaled pulled out. I like Troy he's a nice kid and very good compared to his level of experiance. I'm not sure its alll going as planned for him at the moment. He has some lovely moves and watching him, Tyrone Nurse and carl Frampton spar the other day was absolutely brilliant. They all looked very, very good.
Frampton is absolutely fantastic. I really think Mcguigan has found a diamond there. I'm at the Murray-Lawton fight tonight. Myself and Kev Maree are guests of Barry Mcguigan.... Can't wait.
Yep he's definately a handful. he's no domestic champion or anything but he def falls into the Billy Smith handful category.
I'd say he was better than Billy Smith to be honest - but I get ya.... But for some dodgy scoring both he and Jon Baguely would have winning records IMO, al-Hamidi would as well. Those two are the typical Ingle journeyman, you can almost hear Brendan just telling them to mess the other guy about and just be an awkward ****!
Billy Smith is the best of the bunch IMO. Gwyn Wale, John Hussey and Jon davidson a couple of others were/are really good lads- as in proper decent national amateur champion standard and he turned them over fairly handily. I was going to fight him instead of Anthony Christopher, glad I didn't now wouldn't have been confident of beating him at that stage of my career. He beat baz Carey too. :rofl
I bet Carey was decent enough at some stage, I saw him against Tyrone Nurse in Barnsley and against someone else on the Moore undercard the week after. Against Nurse he had a bit of a go early on, then just accepted defeat - but Nurse never really got out of second gear. Steve Wood needs to get him some better opposition that are prepared to hit him back, to see how good he is. So far all he has faced are guys with the old ear muffs on, glued to a bicycle - hard to guage how good anybody can be in that situation. He deserves a pass though for bringing some mighty fine ladies to Barnsley Metrodome. The old coal miners didn't know what hit them!
He's something else. Kev Maree is your man to speak to about him, they've been doing a fair bit of work together. I can't really put into words how impressed I am with him without sounding like i'm going overboard. Lets just say that if he doesn't win a British title within 24 months i'll be very suprised. He's that good.
The sparring at the gym the other day was something else. Both Frampton and James pushed Nurse hard, but it was his first training sesh since his previous fight. I'd say from what I saw that Nurse is definately going to be a factor at domestic level. I'd like to see him get a few stoppages though otherwise he may end up a bit like Femi Fehintola (good boxer incapable of making a real impact at top domestic level) but he's got some great moves. I saw him fight Carl Allen last year at Colne and although it was a great fight I wasn't massively impressed, but watching him pushed in sparring the other day- and bearing in mind he wasn't fit- he looks a little special.
