To be fair my knowledge of boxing is probably less than any other sport that I have more than a passing interest..... Rugby (both 13s and 15s) and Cricket are sports that I know much more about. Perhaps because I played both a lot at a decent level. I agree though a few stoppages are needed, he may end up like a Steven Bell type, great movement, nice reperiore erc.... Bell seems to have wasted himself though on the SN gravy train. He will probably get better as he gets older, he looked really skinny and being quite tall I'd say he was a welter rather than a lightweight.
Good call on the Bell comparison. Bell is getting on a bit now. real shame he's not made a great deal of progress but he was a career amateur. He'll end up been a top trainer when he's finished I think. Lovely boxer. I boxed on the same bills as him when I was an amateur and I was 9st too so I always used to watch him and think that was how good i'd have to be to do well- never quite made it though
Appearance on Hollyoaks or being a boxer? I know what you mean tho, not sure what your knowledge of rugby league is but I could name a dozen players in Super League that I played with or against. Worse still, the best player I ever came across broke his back aged 16 and was lucky not to be in a wheelchair. He really would have been the next Ellery Hanley.
Firstly i would like once agin to thank Olu and camp Ajose for inviting me ringside to last nights fight. I have told Olu frankly my assesment of last night. Firstly it was a comprehensive win against a safety first southpaw who knows how to survive, it was always likely to be ugly! However i did want a bit more from Ajose... not just an outclassing but a clear unequivocal statement. I think what we got was clear but not unequivocal. Now as i understnad from the camp there were extenuating circumstances and in particular having to prepare for a soutpaw at about a week and and a half notice and after sparring was done and dusted is not ideal. This might explain the problems with range and timing, as there was no problem with conditioning.... Ajose looked like he could go 15 at a canter. I am now praying for a world title or world class shot as i believe he needs the challenge of top class opposition now in order to possibly bring the best out of him. Lets see!
Beeston you are a rugby man as well. Where did you go to school in Yorkshire. Like I said I was at Woodhouse. I played both Union and League.
I was at Morley High School, wouldn't go to school in Beeston - too dangerous! I prefer league generally, but if union was played properly (which it isn't atm) it would be RU every day for me! Probably because I was better at union than league!
Are you my alias? That is freaky.... I was mainly a #13 in League but was probably best at #9.... But I was an openside every day of the week in Union.
Funnily enough I cannot remember whether we played against Morley in my school days. I was recuited to play League at University. Did you guys ever pay Woodhouse Grove?
Are you talking about school games or club ones? Our school was traditionally a union only school with Morley RFC over the road, my year was the first that played league. I generally played union for club sides, but played league as well, with and against some seriously good players and in truth I was found out.
Sorry to get back to you late. I had to jump on a flight to Accra, Ghana that great boxing nation. I actually cannot remember. Ajose loves his music. I will ask him for you.
So Olu, what do you see being the next move for Ajose then? Besides the usual if you want to fight him, he will defeat you line, any idea on a name, date, place? Bearing in mind that Pac is now #1 (though the chances of him taking that are slim), Witter is apparently fighting Alexander for the vacant belt. Needs to be a highly ranked fighter I would have thought as Ajose has slipped to #5 and he's not getting any younger?
