I would love to see him against Witter who he would beat at this stage. None of the 140 champs are any great shakes at the moment, obviously with the exception of pacquiao but he probably will fight at a different weight next anyway. He needs to get moving though as 29 is probably the right age for tite fights at world level. I wish him well.
So Olu, what do you see being the next move for Ajose then? Besides the usual if you want to fight him, he will defeat you line, any idea on a name, date, place? Bearing in mind that Pac is now #1 (though the chances of him taking that are slim), Witter is apparently fighting Alexander for the vacant belt. Needs to be a highly ranked fighter I would have thought as Ajose has slipped to #5 and he's not getting any younger?
Pacman number rating is a fallacy as he is not fighting for the title. The position is as follows late last year at the WBC convention we were ordered to fight Junior Witter in a title eliminator for the winner to face the winner of Timothy Bradley then champion against Devon Alexander. Bradley was allowed to contest the unification against Kendall Holt and then to defend against Alexander. He chose not to defend against Alexander and is no longer the WBC champion. Therefore the next highest ranking contenders Devon Alexander and Junior Witter are to fight for the vacant title and the winner to face the winner of the final eliminator between the next 2 highest contenders which is Ajose Olusegun versus the number 4 contender Ionut Dan Ion the Romanian. Ionut Dan Ion is an unbeaten fighter as well with a record of 25 fights, 25 wins and 13 ko's. So basically we are at the stage for the final eliminator to guarantee the world title shot. Ionut is good and a southpaw as well but we are extremely confident that Ajose will take care of him as well as any 140 pounder. Ironically fighting the southpaw Wright and switch hitter Haywood this year is good preparation stylistically for Ionut. Once the fight has been arranged I will let you know. McCloskey will have to wait but I hope he keeps winning as their is a good payday for a title defence in Ireland.
Sounds good to me, do you think the fight will be over here or will Ajose have to travel to Romania? And if/when he wins do you think he will definitely get it on with the champ bearing in mind what you have said about Witter appearing not too keen in the past?

The idea is that the winner will make Ajose the mandatory contender so whoever the champion e.g. if it happens to be Witter will have to face him as ordered and mandatory or give up the belt for Ajose to fight for it.
Dan is a pretty good technician, but I would favour Olusegun. If you do fight him I'd talk to a poster named catasyou, he's a Romanian and he's got quite a few fights of his.
At this level you would expect whoever you face to be pretty useful. The fact he is also unbeaten means that he does not know as a professional that he can be beaten. You will have to guys coming to win and when this happens I love the odds in our favour.
Still in Accra leaving tomorrow morning for Nigeria and will be in London Saturday week when Ajose and I have a meeting so will ask him then and get back to you.
I mean is Ajose the only fighter you are associated with. I wouldn't mind hearing about a few fighters from Africa i haven't heard about either :hey
Best African fighters i've seen while i've been involved in the sport. 1. Azumah Nelson 2. Ike quartey 3. Mbuile Boitile 4. Sugar Boy Malinga 5. Josh Clottey 6. Ajose Olusegun 7. ****** Juuko 8. Alfred Kotey 9. Simion Ramoni 10. Felix Bwala That list has some glaring omissions like Brian Mitchell etc but these are fighters i've actually seen fight
I actually think Alfred Kotey could or should be higher. So much natural talent. For a world class fighter who won the world title I actually think he did not do his talent justice. Azumah is not just the greatest African fighter of all time but one of the greatest ever. When I think of how the ideal world champion should be I think of the likes of Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Azumah Nelson and Holyfield(at least the way he was). Brian Mitchell was another very good fighter and champion and underrated.
