So I'm a super heavyweight and with the olympics starting I checked to see who is representing us in my weight class. The answer? Nobody.

We only have 8 fighters competing in 11 weight classes. WTF? Also, one of our guys didn't make weight so now he's out. What about an alternate? The other sports have alternates and I know that boxing had alternates a few years ago.

Can anybody, somebody clued in to USA boxing, explain to me how we do not have a Super Heavyweight or an alternate for the guy that failed to make weight?

Has the system changed recently? If so, how? Thanks in advance.

No one qualified at SHW, as I understand it.

Also, the draw was done already when Russell collapsed, so there was nothing that could be done.

Michael Hunter was the US SuperHeavyweight who failed to qualify and the US had 9 representatives before Russell failed to make weight.
    Now it's 8.
