I was watching old fights (-76 -80) at youtube and compared to the Beijing boxing. Olympic boxing really has developed.

It is more intense and the boxers seems to have moved muscle mass from legs to upper body. Also they seems to hit more today?

On the other side they used a lot more body in the punches, thats probably slowing down the boxing.

Is the change due to the different rules? Gloves and head gears? Different training? One thing is sure, Olympic boxing 30 years ago is a lot closer to what I consider boxing than what it is today.

Well, the main difference was that the bouts were 3x3min. That will be effective again from January 1. next year.
