After loosing Gamboa, Barthelemy, Solis, Rigondeaux (all gold medalist)

Aswell as Lara who was World Champion

In your opinion will Cuba still dominate in the Olympic Games ?

Without knowing much about their current crop of "amateur" talent, my feeling is that they'll still kick ass like they always do. I always feel bad for the American kids who have to go up against fighters who are older and much more experienced, but I guess that's the way it is. And it made it even sweeter when Andre Ward won the gold medal. He had to beat some very good fighters to do it.

It has less to do with that than the politics involved, and how they don't allow their fighters to move to the U.S. to compete professionally.

none of the truly great cuban boxers have left to turn pro, none of the great ones, the ones that have left were avarage in cuba.

They should dominate. Most of them are older and much more experienced than other countries who are sending teenagers to the olympics

you should also note that most cuban boxer that win multiple gold medals win them at a very young age, the only compete against younger people when they are in search of their 2nd or 3rd gold medal.

I am not so sure anymore about dominating. I guess they will win at least a few (gold/silver/bronze) medals, that's for sure.

I wouldn't be super surprised though as all over a sudden they (Cuba) decide to not send their fighters over. Because if I recall correctly they also withdrawed their boxers heading for Chicago at the last moment(?).

Well for now who knows, but as Cuba opens up to the western world a bit more in the next few years, I suspect they will dominate less in the amateurs as their older amateurs begin professional careers, but of course once this starts they will be a presence in the pro ranks so who cares about the Olympics.

Jay do u know anything about what happened to Rigondeaux?

The last thing i heard about him was that they* were ignoring him and that he is banned from ever boxing again.

    * don't exactly know who. Cubadeportes? INDER?
