But pro boxing is like that. They score close rounds either way, usually to the favourite fighter. You could say the same for a lot of sports.
Lets point out the British WHY we love her. Even today, in Katies home club of Bray there is no female changing room. She was standing in the commentary box 4 years ago wondering if she would even get a chance to showcase her talents in the Olympics and she sacrafice a career in soccer playing for the Irish nation team to stay in boxing. Now - and I mean this sincerely - If that leads to the likes of Jonas to stay on and Adams I will be glad to root for them in Rio because I think they can shine. But I'd be glad to discuss robberies/dispited decisions who scored a kd was this given , was that given etc as long as Womens boxing continues. The real victory here is for boxing in general. I mean that other fight with the British Girl and the Chinese was class too. As was Katie and Jonas, and the American girl. If they can fight like that don't they deserve to be shown in Brazil? BTW - don't gorget Queen Underwood- she will be back with a bang lol. I predict a Underwood - Jonas final in 2016.
She could bang for a girl couldn't she .I think the black girls are heavy handed a bit as well Nicole Adams as well .
As good as the woman's boxing has been and it has been good, I still can't get in to it, It just seems wrong, this isn't a knock on the boxers they have been better than the men, I just don't like it.
The american lass put the american men to shame with her all out attacking and will to get in there, well done katie to, though that was all rather to close in there for her, glad she got it
Analysis This content is protected Ben Dirs BBC Sport at ExCeL "Complete and utter delirium at ExCeL as Katie Taylor pulls the last two rounds out of the bag to win the lightweight crown. I've been to Rugby World Cup finals, I've been to Wimbledon finals, I've seen Great Britain win three gold medals in 45 minutes at the Olympic Stadium - but I have never heard a noise like that." :good
Thought Taylor won a tense fight. Close but good to see there was no controversy in the scoring. Nicola Adams was excellent. Top quality jab!
While a lot of the scoring hasnt been great it must be said this is the best olympics for exciting fights i have ever seen, havent been many bad fights..
I went to one of the quarter final rounds the other day and during the introduction something was said about the Olympics only being open to amateurs and member of the world series of boxing. This struck me as a little odd bit I remembered a story about one of the aiba president trying to open the Olympics up to pros who signed with a new aiba professional promotion company. http://maxboxing.com/news/main-lead/did-aiba-lie-to-the-world-series-of-boxing-fighters Just read this article and it mentions a boxer already being signed to the aiba promotion and benefiting from a few contentious decisions at the Olympics. Apparently boxers who have competed in the world series of boxing will already has professional records. This includes a few American boxers who will most likely sign pro following the Olympics but now face starting their careers with losing records.
the excel looks/sounds like it holds a very good atmosphere. the Irish and Brit fights sound really loud on the TV
