Gold its unique and quite a lot of gold medallist become champions nowadays, also it's likely to lead to big pro contracts so even if you fail at pro level you'd still be making decent money (eg Audley Harrison)
Without looking it up how many gold medal winners can you name from the 2008 games? If that's too easy what about 04 or 00? Without looking it up how many current world champions (The Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC & WBO) can you name?
I don't know about that, those Cuban fighters are ****ing pros when they are 32 and still fighting in the Olympics.
Championship belt even if it was an alphabet title. Think of the expectations on you after winnings gold and considering you can only have one, you become huge let down and prove you are only good enough to compete at the top level of amateur boxing, rather than professional. And I do realise that ive pretty much summed up Audley Harrison's career in boxing
rjj and pbf got cheated in the olympics... olympics is as corrupt as pro boxing... i pick pro over amateur....
A gold medal should generate some good money; Degale is doing alright for himself and Fraudley was a millionaire before his first fight. Olympic gold beats an alphabet title although not being an undisputed or at least unified world champion.
Olympic Gold is much more difficult to get. The boxer will receive more fame and recognition around the Globe as the whole World watches the Olympics compared to a small number who follow pro boxing. Now, to be Olympic Champ and pro World Champ is the ultimate achievement!
Some of them but not all of them. Most of the Cubans win their first Gold in their 19's, 20's and early 20's but since there's no pro boxing in Cuba they have no choice but to stay as amateurs their whole life.
Olympic boxing is more like fencing nowadays so i'll take the pro title although both would be great :hat
Noobs here - Championship title means you've also most likely made millions getting it. Plus a champion is better than an olympic gold medalist 9 times out of 10
I would prefer the Olympic gold. Walking in the opening ceremony. Hearing your country's anthem. Then sign with a big promoter and make a killing.
