Who are some of the Olympic heavy and super heavy gold medalists that couldn't make it as pros? Henry Tillman comes to mind, as does Tyrell Biggs, and Audley Harrison of course. Why do you think these guys couldn't make it when Frazier, Foreman, Bowe, Lewis etc. did? And Joshua in more recent times. One common thing I am noticing about these guys is lack of true punching power. Perhaps that is why they couldn't make it.
They just didn`t have the fundamentals, Tyson was the most skilled offensive boxer of all-time, all heavyweights that win olympic gold have to improve if they are to win world titles, they also have to learn to fight for 12 rounds, a three round fight doesn`t prove everything about a fighter and your opposition improves in the pros.
Tyrell Biggs: Was on drugs like most heavyweights from the 80's, didn't had a lot of power either. Pete Rademacher: Stepped up too soon. Henry Tillman: No chin. Audley Harrison: Not that good, bad chin, bad cardio, not a lot of heart. Rakhim Chakhkiev: Didn't had the best chin or cardio. Odlanier Solis: No discipline at all. Ed Sanders: He passed away after a fight.
Yes but that was different because he had to fight an elite pro with no pro experience, it was a stupid idea.
With Biggs part of the problem was that Tyson was champ during his prime years so he never stood a chance, if he had a longe prime he might have won a world title when Tyson began to slide, but I don`t think he could have beat an in-shape Douglas or Holy either.
