from SI. I don't know most of these guys, but this is a handy guide on who to watch. Given in gold-silver-bronze order: 119 Enkhbat Badar-Uugan, Mong. Sergey Vodopyanov-Rus Gu Yu-China Gary Russell, Jr. USA 125.5 Albert Selimov-Rus Li Yang-Chi Yakup Kilic-Tur Idel Torriente-Cub 132 Yordenis Ugas-Cub Frankie Gavin-GB Alexey Tishchenko-Rus Domenico Valentino-Ita 141 Serik Sapiyev-Kaz Gennady Kovalev, Rus Roniel Iglesias, Cub Billy Joe Saunders-GB 152 Demetrius Andrade-US Carlos Banteaux-Cub Hanati Silamu-Chi Kakhaber Zhvania-Geo 165 Matvey Korobov, Rus Emilio Correa-Cub Sergiy Derevyanchenko-Ukr Wang Jianzgheng-Chi 178 Artur Beterbiev-Rus Abbos Atoev-Uzb Carlos Negron-PR Yerekbuian Shynaliev-Kaz 200 Osmay Acosta-Cub Rakhim Chakkiev-Rus Yushan Nijiati-Chi Clemento Russo-Ita 200+ Roberto Alfonso-Cub Robero Cammerelle-Ita Islam Timurziev-Rus Zhang Zhilei-Chi Timurziev/Cammerelle will be interesting.
What would lead to to believe Acosta can beat the world champion Russo or Chakhiev? The Cubans this time are relatively inexperienced. The Mongloian Enhbat has already lost to Vodopyanov who is looking amazing lately and Timurziev or Cammerelle would have to be favored over Alfonso. Other that that its a pretty good list.
Thats what i thought, Raushee is one of the guys i pick to most likely win a medal, the guy is uber talented, reminds me of a mix between Shane Mosley and Zab Judah :good
Hes ****ing awesome, Only seen one of his fights, virtually no footage of him despite this being his 2nd Olympics. The only readon he got beat last time is because he fougth Rigendeaux, and lets face it ... we cant hold that against him, best amatuer boxer in the world + he was like 18 at the time, I still cant believe hes only had like 50 fights
The bantamweight divison is lucky Guillermo Rigondeaux isn't going, he was a sure thing for gold. :yep
It looks like most of the boxing is going to be aired this time in the states with NBC's expanded coverage. Anyone know anything about Sapiyev in the 141 division?
