although our olympians have had mixed success in the pro ranks,surely the hype that comes with a pro debut is a hindrance[apart from being a millionaire after 5 bouts ,of course]and a hype that Audley could not match or live up to. Amir Khan ,without that olympic medal ,would be forgiven for a lot of his sins although his passage has been messy and that is partly down to bad management and not fighting for a domestic title. saying that i have high hopes for the 2008 lads my picks being DeGale and billie-joe
Not much to do with medals, is it? They are freaks. One has an awful chin, the other is talented but lost his marble.
I think the hypetrain is a big hindrance. A lot of the best Olympians of recent years had hypetrains, DLH for example - but at least they put in the groundwork first rather than cutting corners.
