If Josh Taylor wins then I think he qualifies, Maxwell has a Turkish opponent so its unlikely he'll win.

Callum Smith & Ogogo need to get to the final to qualify, ****** Baister has to win the final.

It is **** the way that Turk is going to win no matter how well Sam does, we could get at least 3 qualifiers here.

Hopefully a minimum of 2 will qualify anyway.

I think every Turkish guy in a close fight has won by 2 points

Its the same all over the world, hopefully that means in the Olympics the British & Irish lads should do well

Ireland has 3 qualified already, if we can get another 3 men and Katie taylor qualified, I think we have a good shout of 1 or more gold...

Also, I hear that Joe Ward still has an outside shot of qualifying despite being knocked out of the tournament earlier this week.

Katie could probably fight at all 3 women weights and win all 3 golds, she is a monster.

How does he have an outside chance of qualifying?

I'm not totally clued in, and im only going by what others are saying. But apparently there is a wildcard way in. I'll see if I can find a link to explaining it properly for you...

Edit, Katie also has to qualify still, and only has 1 shot at it. Hope she doesnt get screwed over or bottles it...

This is the requirement for wildcard entry.

the olympic tripartite invitation for 81kg place for a developing nation in europe cant go to a european nation as none meet the criteria hence the 81kg place goes back to the aiba who redistribute it to the highest ranked 81kg fighter who didnt qualify at the worlds 2011 who is JOE WARD ...

I don't think UK has that good chances of gold, I don't think Joshua will do as well as in the worlds and I don't rate Stalker that much.

How many have UK got qualified now?

How many still in the balance?

Doesn't that mean he will 100% go then? He deserves to be there though so good luck to the lad.

Uk has 5 so far. Selby, Campbell, Stalker, Evans & Joshua.

    Potentially 9 but probably 6 or 7

I dont know really, lads on the irish page in the general have been discussing it. There is a number of theorys as to why he should be eligible over there, so fingers crossed.

Yeah i know he didnt qualify, but it would be a shame if he wasnt there considering he is European champion and top 5 at that weight in the world imo. Also, apparently he got properly dicked in Turkey by the judges..

6 is not being very hopeful! Hopefully at least 7.

    Plus all 3 women.

Josh Taylor won his bout today 17-9. So he qualifys for the olympics if Maxwell doesnt get through to the Semis. Maxwells bout should be on about now.

Joyce loses 19-10, bad news for the Irish that.

Good that Taylor has won, hopefully Sam Maxwell can do the same!
