The Good news for Nolan, Ogogo and Smith is that they aren't facing turkish boxers in the olympic semi final shootouts. Every Turkish boxer is still on course to qualify despite the fact they had no one qualify from the worlds. Something a bit fishy there.
I may have this slightly wrong but they go back and get the score cards of all 5 judges, get rid of the 2 most extreme scores (1 that favours fighter A, 1that favours fighter B) and use the other 3 cards to give a decision.
I've got tickets for light flyweight, light welter and light heavy at the Olympics. Quarter-finals as well so they are medal bouts :bbb:happy Not sure if we have definite LF or LH yet?? Can anyone confirm (I've not read all these posts yet)
You're thinking about the actual points system, not countback. The scoring system is based on five judges pressing for the scoring blows, and they take away the referee who has the highest and the one who has the lowest score. Doesn't have anything to do with which of the fighters they have that score for. :good A countback is decided if the fight has come to a draw with the accepted scores. Then the scoring machine automatically recalculates, using every points pressed by each individual judge. When all the points are added up, the fighter with the most points is declared a winner.
think i've got the exact same tickets:good Paddy Barnes will be there for ireland at light-fly Callum Smith is fighting for a place at Light-heavy on friday.
