Hello, Can someone please explain to me how these qualification tournaments for the Olympic Games work? There are so many tournaments such as the World Cup, Olympic continental qualification tournaments, wsb, world final apb etc ... Do you only have to win a medal in just randomly one of these tournaments to qualify for the Olympics??? And how many of these tournaments can you compete in? Do you only get the chance to compete in 1??? So lets say a really good world class boxer, can go to all of them and eventually have 10 chances to qualify or am I wrong ????
not 100 percent sure but theres 2 places up for grabs each year in apb boxing in each weight catagory. If you compete in apb i dont think your aloud compete in wsb or continetal qualifying events theres also two places up for grabs in wsb each year in each weight catagory and wsb boxers can still compete in continental qualifying events olympic qualifying in boxing in the past meant that better european boxers missed out on the tournament while shitty boxers from african , americas, asia and oceania got to compete At the last olympics europe won half of all medals available, africa won none, yet they had the same number of boxers qualifed
Hey the general, thanks a lot for your answer, I highly appreciate it. http://corporate.olympics.com.au/files/dmfile/Rio2016QualificationSystem-Boxing.pdf Take a look at the link above, there it clearly mentions how many places are available at which weight class at which tournament. So if you compete at the World Cup, can you also compete at the continetal qualification and the final AOB tournament ? Which eventually gives this boxer 3 chances to compete? Or do most boxers only get 1 of 2 chances??? Let's say the #1 and #2 welterweights of a country tried 2 tournaments but failed both times... Is there a chance some other welterweight can give it a shot at the final AOB tournament ???? Hope you understand what I mean...
i think they do but continental qualifying always comes last to ensure africa oceania etc reach there quota. its disgraceful really because given the way apb boxers are now not able to compete in other tournaments we could have a situation where for example 3 kazakh, russian boxers at the same weight could all qualify for the olympics in there own right but only 1 will get to go. While really shitty african, asian, americas oceania booxers will qualify as regards letting the 3rd choice compete, countries usually send the boxers they feel has the best chance of qualifying, if there top two failed and the 3rd was also a good boxer then he might get a chance. if they feel there 3rd chouce boxer has no chance of qualifying then they won send him
