He's a great fighter, definately one of the best from the lower weightclasses. He has a good chin, technique, timing, speed, accuracy and alot of power, not to mention one of the best body attacks in boxing. He can box very well at times too when neccessary, although his defense is average. He is primarily vulnerable to slick boxers with good handspeed (especially southpaws), which is evident against Gorres, Gonzales and Mark Johnson. I honestly think he beats everyone 115 and below, besides Mijares.

Top fighter, I'm a fan. :good

What amazes me about Montiel is that once upon a time he saw fit to motoring around the ring and trying to win by jabbing and countering. Remember his fight with Mark Johnson? If he would have shown some agression, he would have KO'd Johnson before Marquez got to him.

His technical punching ability is unreal, it ****ing amazes me the speed he has, the positioning that he gets his legs/back/shoulders into his punches all delivering an unreal force of power behind them. This guy is one of the best punchers in boxing today!

Montiel sure is very fun to watch now. There is no reason Montiel-Mijarez should not happen, what an exciting fight. :good

He's definately one of the best offensive fighters today. I doubt anyone can last 12 rounds trading punches with him.

Mijares will school Montiel... soft punching gorrez schooled him from rnds 1-9 before he ran out of steam.

i think montiel has become a bit of different since his close win against gorres. He's become better and better

You are 100% correct. I feel that Montiel tranformed after not getting the props Arce and Majares are getting. He then raised his game.
