    Great wee fighter.

    His punches are so fluid.

    He's a bit of a natural.

That was a great body shot indeed. I've been watching Montiel for a long time now and I don't think I've ever seen him fight as good as he's fighting now. He's been fighting much more offensive minded lately. Mijares is gonna have his hands full once he steps into the ring with this animal. :nod

It's crazy to me how a fighter like him, hes been in the fighting game for a long time and yet he has still maintained himself in his prime physical condition to perform as well as he ever has.

IMO Montiel will be a harder fight for Mijares than Arce was. Montiel's offensive game > Arce's offense. Montiel is just a phenomenal puncher.

Hey Amsterdam, If Montiel works Mijares body religiously and effectively for the first 6 rounds of their fight...How do you think Mijares will respond to it and how will he adapt expecially if it causes him to slow down?

Damn, you called me out when before I even made entered the thread.

Well, consistent body work from a puncher like Montiel will wear ANYBODY down, the tricky for Montiel is being able to consisently land that body work. So far, Mijares looks to be made out of steel, he's only been hurt very few times and punches from Arce and Munoz didn't even phase him, though you have to rate Montiel as a better puncher and more precise offensive fighter than those two guys naturally.

I don't think Montiel would land enough on Mijares to slow him down because he will have to break through the awesome defence, while getting tagged up pretty seriously himself by Mijares amazingly precise offensive work behind the jab... Mijares works the body very well also and all of the sharp, accurate work has brutalised every opponent he's fought recently to the point where they are getting pretty banged up visibly in the face and body... some think he's a feather fist, well, these guys are getting pretty ****ed up and he could have stopped a few had he opened up more on them.

Mijares just makes far too little technical mistakes, Montiel will indeed land on him good at points in the fight, but expect a Mijares adjustment, as he's lethal at range but awesome inside as well.

Montiel is a great fighter. Started coming into his own as of late. A fight with Mijares would be something special. If it will ever happen is another question.

You know its hard to land on Mijares because he is a dirty southpaw lol. Along with his great reflexes and defensive smarts the footing is awkward for these guys and you pretty much have to lean in to hit them. This is where I think Montiel will make it a harder fight than Arce did. Montiel has more offensive variety than Arce does, maybe he isn't as tough as Arce but offensively he impresses me a lot more.

Ok so if Montiel takes too long before he slows Mijares down he obviously won't win the fight.

Lets roll the dice and say by chance (anything can happen) Montiel lands a vicious left hook to the right side of Mijares body just as Mijares tries to slip to his right..and it seriously hurts Mijares as the punch catches him when his midsection wasn't bracing for it. If the punch has a significant effect on Mijares it can change the dynamics of the fight for at least 2-3 rounds before Mijares could recover(if he shakes it off).

But if that does happen and Mijares has to dig deep, what will he resort too? Mijares fights with such Godly finesse that its just a mystery as to what he would look like in a war or in a fight where he really would have to sacrifice a bit of defense to out punch a guy.

I love both guys equally, So I'd love to see Mijares take a serious shot just to make the fight close lol instead of a boxing clinic.

Good puncher, otherwise not very impressive. Not a very good outboxer, too squared up, appears lazy at times, and he really does not have good balance at all, as he showed a few times in the clip. Did anyone see that embarassing attempt at a left hook at around 2:14? Mijares will school him.
