Round 8 Tamayo leans forward and jabs. Cayetano is staying just outside and pushing his left jab up into Tamayo's face. Right to the body by Cayetano, and then a wild overhand right charging forward and missing. Left hook to the neck by Cayetano as Tamayo ducks straight down. Tamayo flops around a bit wildly, and lands a wild slapping right hook as he's straightening up. Tamayo now circles and settles down, working the right jab out. BIG LEFT HOOK by Cayetano coming forward. Tamayo's head is bobbling around as Cayetano catches him with good shots! They hug tight and slam into the ropes. Tamayo runs. 10-9 Cayetano 77-75 Tamayo
Darchinyan fought twelve hours ago. (Armenia is several hours ahead) He beats Mbamba by UD, scoring two knockdowns. I don't know if Soto and Rubio have even fought yet.
Official scores: 77-75 Tamayo 78-75 Cayetano 77-75 Tamayo ganador per decision dividida...Ruben "Canelito" Tamayo!
Wow, the crowd is split almost 50-50! Some cheering, some booing! Both of them must have a lot of traveling fan support. The scores are hard to argue with.
Round 1 Paez circles left and throws a busy left hook, to the head and body. Juarez comes at him in a straight line, trying to peck through. Paez scores a left hook knockdown!! Juarez is up and hooking back at Paez but getting rocked back to the ropes! Paez wrestles him a bit and then starts working the hook again. Juarez leans into him and grinds his forearms against him, but Paez pushes back with his own and keeps hooking the head and body. Overhand right by Paez on the taller man. Juarez tries to land his own hooks to the body and an uppercut to the head as Paez comes in, but is too slow. Paez hooks the body and takes a right to the face when he fails to cover it in time. Big hook by Paez backs Juarez to the ropes. Two fisted attack by Paez, leaving himself open and taking a few shots but really drubbing Juarez. 10-8 Paez
Nacho Beristain and Juan Manuel Marquez are in the Philippines being interviewed live, asked what they think about Omar Chavez. I don't really speak Spanish, but you can tell by their facial expressions that they're struggling to find something polite to say. :yep The commentator, btw, is using Marquez's old nickname of "JuanMa" - which has since been co-opted by a young upstart to the point where if you use it people automatically think of the other kid from Puerto Rico and not the original (and more accomplished) Mexican JuanMa. :deal Nice. We need to bring that back and reclaim the name on Dinamita's behalf.
Round 2 Juarez is coming forward, throwing taxi-hailing overhand rights and left hooks to the body and missing most. Paez is no longer countering or venturing inside to get down and dirty, just coiling himself up and defending on the outside. Resultant round is poor. Paez misses a hook, and takes a right to the body but dodges all of Juarez's head shots. Paez gave that one away. 19-19
:good I just read about them. Darchinyan: shutout decision of Mbamba Soto: 2nd round TKO of Alfaro Rubio: 5th round TKO of Akrong
Round 3 Paez circles, very relaxed..hoisting up his trunks. Sudden quick combo and Juarez is hurt!! Paez backs him into a corner and bowls him over with a few hard shots! WTF? Ref is walking Paez into another corner instead of giving Juarez a count?? Is he calling it a push or something? Low blow?? No, Paez wins!! Knockout!! Weird! Need a replay. edit: replay shows a good angle of Juarez getting backed into a corner by relentless left hooks, trying to sit back on the ropes where they enter the ring post and getting hooked in the face while sitting/slumping. Good stoppage. The no-count makes sense now.
You didn't catch em online thanks to the WBC? The card took place at around the same time as the Chavez card.
What time was that? They didn't overlap with Zaveck vs. Berto? I'm watching the Chavez card now and only just became aware that it isn't live a few minutes ago. This content is protected No spoilers please.
