I actually think Omar is gonna do better in MMA than he would have done in boxing. Not that his boxing wasn't very good. He did remind me a lot of Cotto but I don't think he was as good. With his wrestling background which I heard was very deep...I think his striking and strong ground game will give him more momentum in the world of MMA. He's got pedigree in a world of very raw fighters who only have one or the other....either their strong on the ground and suck with striking or vice versa.
That's what was speculated and perhaps it was the truth. But he said it himself that he was concentrating on school and wasn't willing to drop any classes to spar with Pac. BTW, I was very high on Henry as a 54 lb prospect; more so than some of the other well popularized 54lb prospects such as Lara, Martirosyan, Andrade, and Porter - and so I find his defection from the sport to be disappointing more than anything else.
