O'Meara latest to bottle it against Yassine El Maachi

I started following El Maachi after he beat Eammon Goodbrand who I used to spar with reguarly. It was a shock when he absolutely demolished Goodbrand, considering Maachi's record at the time, it looked like it would be a reasonabley procedure win for Goodbrand, who was a former Scottish Amateur champion, several times over.

I also remember hearing that he had entered the ring in a celtic top on a dinner show, only to be abused by a member of the crowd who was clearly a gers fan. El Maachi apparently went up to him after his fight and explained that he'd been told by someone to wear the top and settled the dispute with the guy (obviously not with violence). I liked this story and liked his style from then on so was glad to see it when he knocked conception out.


He might not look like the most text book boxer but as anyone who's boxed themselves will know, those styles are extremely hard to deal with, especially when it is combined with Raw power. He's got the ability to knock men clean out, something which isn't seen on these too shores amongst too many prospects.
