When he said he'd be moving up to heavy, I said I'd root for him. I like the fact that he's taking on guys much bigger than him. The fights are more interesting and exciting. He could be hurt at any moment, yet lacks the power to end the fight with one shot. I was on the edge of my seat, literally punching and moving along with Usyk. It's been a while since I've been that involved in a fight.
That's the general level of intelligence of your average Usyk hater . Imagine not being a fan of Usyk of all people? There is literally not only zero reason to dislike the guy but zero not to respect him immensely. He embodies everything that is great and noble about the sport both in and out of the ring, is an utterly fearless road warrior who dares to be great like very few others and is an absolute gentleman and class act.
Not to mention, the basis for his whole anti-Usyk argument is.... wait for it.... he's boring. Yeah, he's so boring, he just produced a strong contender for 2021 FIght Of The Year.
Exactly. Even though Usyk was giving up huge physical advantages against a much bigger, stronger and more powerful opponent he didn't run from AJ he just used footwork and lateral movement to keep him from getting set and stood in front of him for long spells and took the fight to him. AJ was the only one who was hurt in the fight, multiple times, and in danger of getting stopped and he likely would have had Usyk put his foot on the gas earlier in round 12 and started letting the combinations fly or there was another round to go. He took the fight to most of these SHW behemoths too even though they were much bigger than him and half of them were elite SHWs with big power Usyk 211lbs - Nistor 233lbs Usyk 213lbs - Modugno 277lbs Usyk 210lbs - Majidov 235lbs Usyk 211lbs - Joyce 238lbs Usyk 209lbs - Brechlin 263lbs Usyk 208lbs - Fa 246lbs This content is protected
Usyk is a blessing to boxing. I'm good with either him or Fury becoming the undisputed heavyweight king.
Supposedly Joshua will pocket £10 million along with a share of the PPV sales which takes his purse to around £15 million. Usyk is guaranteed to earn £3 million for the fight and could be paid another £1-2 million if PPV targets are met. This is his career-best purse till date.
Exactly. And what should be pointed out, alongside his massive weight advantage, Modugno is also billed as 6'6 1/2 This content is protected Now, as much as Fury might want to bill himself at 6'9, at best he has an inch and a half on Wilder and Wlad. In reality, he's probably closer to 6'7. So could that 2 round blitzing of Modugno dumpy cavetroll looking ass be a portent of things to come... possibly.
Could be Modugno lasted into the 4th against Juggernaut Joyce and was only stopped because of a cut eye If Usyk can starch a 6'6 1/2, 277lb giant in a couple of rounds he might just be able to do the same to everyone in the top 10 if he switches to destroyer mode, including Fury, AJ in the rematch, and The Tuscaloser and co
Fury has always had issues with southpaws, he was a sitting duck for that looping left from Otto, and he's about as fast on his feet as Old Man Ortiz, yet he was backing him up throughout. He also got rocked to his core by glass jawed Abell at least twice before he stopped him, alongside all of the smaller guys that have dropped him or hurt him like Cunningham, McDermott, Pajkic and Chisora, the first three are 6'3, like Usyk, Chisora is 6'2. Then add in Usyk's incredible stamina, so he won't be easy to catch and wail on like Otto in the second half of their fight. Usyk's going to be ducking under his looping hooks all night, getting in his grill and working Fury's blobby ass over like a speedbag. As far as The Tuscaloser goes... See: Szpilka and Ortiz, they won almost every second of their matches... sure Wilder eventually caught them, but neither have great chins to begin with, and they aren't quite an Usyk level southpaw now are they? Usyk butchers Wilder.
