His head problems aside?....HE WAS!
Outside of his inane decisions along the way along with that "which one of me wants to show up" mentality, he was the prototypical perfect fighter IMO and, due to his decisions, pissed away a possibility for an AT-greatest consideration.
Breakdown: Oh, you could occasionally deck him with a BIG shot but he wasn't going anywhere (the shriveled pear Eddie shows up after having to lose multi pounds to defend against Spinks has a clear lead halfway through the fight then gets thumbed in the eye, probably unintentional, takes a SUNDAY JINX RIGHT late in the fight and rises and finishes; the AP scored their fight a draw by the way)
Eddie was a superior fighter than M. Spinks; feel free to disagree.
Iron chin, excellent 'boxer', big power in both hands (you could write a book on his LH's to the body technique)
