Silva does look like an artist when he strikes, so brutal, but GSP is so physically gifted, he beat Hughes at his own game and I didn't think anyone could do that. If he takes Silva to the ground then he has a shot, Anderson has a good ground game but GSP really impressed me with his last performance, and there is only about a 10-15 lb. difference in weight.
GSPs resume is better then Hughes now, or at least what they've done over the past few years. Hughes 2-1 against Penn Trigg Sherk - stoppage Parysian Koscheck Is better then St. Pierre 1-2 against Penn 1-1 against Trigg x2 Riggs Sherk - decision Old Gracie
The only person that really gave him trouble was BJ. Id like to see a rematch between the 2 with BJ coming in better shape and conditioning.BJ has a sound chin and is very good on his feet much like GSP.Unfortunately his not really a welter and loses points because of his size.
I still would rather see Hughes-Penn 3....i'm sure BJ has a sour taste in his mouth after that fight especially the way it finished.
Yeah that was a bad way to go out. Getting beaten to the punch by Hughes and then put in that crucifix atsch In a fight he was otherwise dominating to that point. I'd like to see BJ beat Stevenson, then possibly fight Sherk or Hughes and meet GSP sometime next year.
Finally someone said it. Matt Hughes Career hasdn't been eneded by GSP. Fact is no one besides GSP can beat Matt as a WW. I am still not sure if Serra got a luck punch or not on GSP but it was probably all luck. and imagine if Matt wanted to drop in wieght? We could say BJ will kill him, but fact is he beat him twice. you could say he fluked out but he beat him twice and didn't submit when he was in crazy submissions. If Matt retired he would be in the hall of Fame no problem he is an amazong fighter and got beat by someone who will one day be in the hall of fame and will be the champ for a very long time....
whatever... if he can beat Kos or Fitch I would consider him still in the picture...but if you look at his recod over the last few years it's not all that impressive. getting lucky wins and beating has beens or contenders.. doesn't still qualify him as the "worlds most dominant welterweight". that was fine when he was beating Riggs, Gracie, and Lytle.. but not any more. His lucky win over an injured BJ penn in which he was clearly losing is his best win in years.
