Welterweight prospect Oyewale Omotoso has left Murray Thompson and now with Freddie Roach Australias best prospect

I guess it's a good move by Wale for his career, but it's terrible for Australia, and Murray Thompson who has brought him over from Nigeria and has trained, managed, and for the most part, promoted him.

I think it's a good move by Omotoso, although I feel sorry for Murray after everything he has done for him. His career has stagnated recently whilst under Thompson (his best opponent so far IMO - Samuel Colomban - was 9 fights ago) and it's not going to help with his development. Omotoso is coming into his prime years and it's the right time for him to push on to see if he can mix it at world level. Hopefully a big promoter in the States takes a chance with him, because he has a TV-friendly style and obvious talent.

Great work by Murray to assist Omotoso to where he is today, but a good trainer will always have the boxers interest as the main priority so if that means letting go of him in order to pursue a bigger and better opportunity with a highly ranked trainer, so be it.

Whether the split was mutual or not I believe its a good move by Wale.

I'm all for our fighters going overseas for the bigger deals but some sort of dues should be paid to the guys doing the early hard yards here

Also wanted to see Wale fight a few more times here before heading OS

It's inevitable Ash, that hungry active fighters will leave their trainers/managers to pursue a greater opportunity and Im all for that. For a trainer to not respect that would be selfish, especially if its an opportunity to train with Roach. Vice versa, the boxer needs to respect all the hard work from all those who have assisted to get them so far. The break down seems to be in the communication between boxer/trainer/manager/promoter.

In saying that, loyalty between boxer and trainer can become questionable. Especially if each has different plans for the boxers development

It's strange.... I always believed the Yanks were geographically stupid.

Murray Thompson could still be his manager, theres a video out there saying he would step down and let some 1 eles coach him if it was for the best but would still be his manager

Yeah shame on him for wanting to train with the best trainer in the world instead of out of the shittiest state in Australia, What an absolute ***** for wanting to make the most out of his career and have a shot on the world stage, the bloke should be shot.
