I feel the same exact way, that's why I was'nt that entertained by his wars with Micky Ward, and that because of the lack of skill involved.

THE QUESTION IS: What rather you see?

2 skillful guys fighting with NO HEART
2 unskillful guys fighting with HEART

This happens all the time and to me its a no brainer as far as what I'd choose.

I agree completly. I always felt a tinge of guild watching him because I knew he was going to hurt himself. In ten years this guy won't talk right... just not my cup of tea.

lol hey this is a good thread, we should start these up every once in a while for random retired boxers every once in a while. Get to see how much people liked a certain fighter:lol:

I prefer his days as an allout slugger the prime Arturo on the brink and then coming back that was a 10.

given the fact that he doesn't give a **** if he dies in the ring, and could pull of a win in an unexpected manner, i'd give him an 8.5 (although i chose 8)8)..

hope he'll age well though, given his wars and his tendency to give it all when he was still fighting... and i hope he stays retired

Especially in the 2000's, even counting the Ward fights, he should have retired before the Ward fights if concerned for his health... then add on the Mayweather, Baldo and Gomez beatdowns, insane.

Even then, back and forth brawls like this that are lacking in skillful prowess, resulting in nothing but blood and guts slugging are not what boxing is about to me, I get bored very fast. Though a round or 2 of it is good in the right spots certainly and a precision war like Marquez-Vasquez is always great, very different from the brutal and unnecessary Arturo Gatti fights.

I'll make sure that I miss both of these options.:yep

I've seen enough of the latter on ESPN friday night fights over the years as well, brutal club level matches, rock em sock em robots, I get bored with it. And then I don't want to see runners at all.

Skilled guys without a doubt. For me there is no such thing as a boxing match with NO HEART

Give me Calzaghe vs Kessler over Bika vs Codrington any day of the week

it depends on who he was fighting. against dlh and mayweather, he was not as entertaining because he never had a chance but against guys at his level he was as exciting as it gets
