Japan boxing prospect Hinata Maruta is called "The number 1 hope" and is 18 year old fighter from Morioka gym.

He going to make pro debut later this year and already spend time sparring with good fighter like world ranked Shun Kubo and also fighter from Muto gym and Shinsei gym spar him recently.

As amateur he go 55-11 (31). Not amazing record but full of achievement like bronze in Asian Jr in 2013 (he lose to gold medal winner Javokhirbek Karimov) and title win on domestic scene at low age group. He also come runner up in 2013 school boy, where Takuma Inoue and Kosei Tanaka also fight.

According to his gym he is 176cm tall (5 foot 10) and weighs 58KG (127.868lbs). Suggesting he start his career at Super Bantamweight or Featherweight with potential to grow into maybe Welterweight. He expect to go to US later in year to have hard training camp before professional debut in the Autumn with team wanting ambitious start against world ranked opponent. That debut probably be 6 rounder but small chance it might be 8 round.

Footage of Maruta not easy to find with only short clips or clip inside clip. Best that I seen was this 1 minute one that Morioka share.

I hope you remember name. He going to be big star like Naoya.

Dam 5 '10 for a featherweight/SFW? That's some incredible size. I look forward to his ring debut.

You're telling me, rather funny though to read.

Also, from going through his blog entries looking for updates on his training and the such it seems he loves Bananas...

Still looks like a hell of a talent and those in the know have been quietly talking about him for a few years now. Boxingnews.jp mentioned him way back in 2009 (http://boxingnews.jp/news/3490) as one of 3 fighters to win an excellence award in the under 15 tournament.

He should likely start out as a FW then. He will likely outgrow the division fast.

I wonder why hit the wall bag rather than an actual bag which moves around and let's you work on your timing and footwork better.

Will keep an eye on the guy though.
