Was thinking this earlier and got my interested. Say for a fella like Joe Gallagher would he earn good money for training his fighters. Also how much would the top dogs earn. I imagine Freddie Roach would get onwards of a million up.

Isn't it roughly around 10% of a fighters purse... Could be wrong with that but I've seen that percentage a fair bit.

I think I am right in saying that until very recently Joe G had another job as well as training. Not 100% sure:think

It depends. Some trainers are on a set salary no matter what the fight, others as mentioned are on a percentage of the purse.

Roach must be set for life from last 5-6 Manny fights, let alone if he faces Floyd as well.

It's worth taking into account that alot of pro trainers also train amateurs and will also allow people who just want to keep fit into the gym or even host boxersize or girls classes. By charging a decent amount for membership fees, plus training fees they could be making a decent living out of that along with what they make from their pro fighters.

It's also worth noting that a lot of guys just train amateurs and maybe a couple of pro's on a volunteer basis and only make enough to pay bills ect for the gym.

Totally between the fighter and the trainer. There really is no set standard, but as LHL says it's usually not more than 10%.

Manager fee completley varies. standard in the US is 33%

Trainers generally 10% but it can also vary.

I would imagine Steward, Roach are millionaires but most boxing trainers are probably on a lower than average wage.

I would imagine Joe has done well this year.

Boxer/ trainer contracts tend to get away from a set percentage on onto a wage when the boxer is on REALLY big purses.

10% unless they get to Hatton, DLH, Pac, Floyd level where I think they just get a flat fee like $500k cos Hatton etc don't want to give 10% of 15-25 mil.

Funny you say about Hatton because wasn't Graham awarded 500k for the Lazcano fight on the basis that he had always been paid 10% of the purses and people thought that was strange considering how much Hatton was earning. :think

I think that was just a fudge figure that satisfied both sides.

  14. 10% for trainer... 20% for manager... 20% promoter... 20% Tax.. 29% on the Hawaii training camp...

I think he had that argument about more than 1 fight.

10% isn't alot if the trainer is doing his job and working with you everyday, devising the strategy, studying tape etc Even if the trainer can find numerous Ricky Hattons, he needs 10 to be able to earn what the boxer is. Must be why trainers like Steward just take on loads of advisor work for an easy flat fee without the hard slog every single day.
