Not really a fan of Donaire, or of Darchinyan, (I prefer Mijares) but this article is generally right on the spot in its observation of the little Filipino's seemingly frustrating career so far. I would love him to rematch Darchinyan, or just to fight an actual champion within his weight range (115-118) and not these patsies contenders. "Perhaps it is what Donaire really needs, to be away from Pacquiao's shadow within Top Rank after all. Ironically, maybe he would have appeared in a Pacquiao undercard already had he been with another promoter, and who knows how this would have affected his perceived risk-reward ratio and future fight offers. Time whistles by while Donaire's prime is wasted on unworthy opponents and uninspired matchmaking. If he does not figure in a fairly big fight in 2010 he may find himself slowly turning into the kind of high-risk low-reward fighter who only gets due recognition in gyms and old trainers' tales never to be fully appreciated by the mainstream boxing public." http://www.bukisa.com/articles/309074_the-travails-of-nonito-donaire-jr
To think about it, Darchinyan's loss to Donaire made wonders to his career. Prior to that loss, Darchinyan was avoided like plague by other titleholders. After that loss, he took Mijares, Arce, Kirilov, Z. Gorres, which I am sure would have never happened if he did not lose to Donaire. That loss removed the "invincibility cloak" of Darchi. In winning, Donaire inherited the Mantle of Darchinyan as "being the avoided" one. Even the fight with Montiel was scrapped by Montiel's camp, and worse, even Darchinyan's camp is avoiding Donaire.
Donaire doesn't need to give that bum ass Vic a rematch. The chipmunk is on his way out and another victory over him wouldnt mean ****. Donaire has supernatural abilities and a great fighter like him must challenge himself at 118 and above.. He's a big fish in a small pond full of guppies but wait till he mixes it up with the likes of Mares, Hasegawa, and Montiel.. **** gonna be poppin.
Too bad Donaire can't land a fight with fellow champs. Tho Donaire is taking care some of top contenders in Raul Martinez, Moruti Mthalane and Rafael Concepcion.
Montiel is fighting Rafael Concepcion, the fighter who fought Donaire at 115 but can not even make the 118, the next division, as he came in at 119 pounds and then gained 10 pounds after weigh-in. He was basically a superbantam fighting a superflyweight, and even lost convincingly. Now he is fighting Montiel?
Donaire is not a cash cow if he can not make fights. Montiel did not want to fight him, Darchinyan did not want to rematch him.
This is good thing.Donaire weakness is conditioning.Once he gets his fitness up a level.I can say he could do give A+ qty sleeek performance IMO.I heard he is working with CONTE just to get that strength, power and stamina.
the guy highlighted is a very good boxer but was defeated by donaire. a rematch with the bull will still have the same ending. donaire will ko him again!
Here is a good time to consider the difference between 'few' and 'many'. Few 'bums' get ranked in the top 10 P4P best fighters on the planet. Many ******s post on these forums. You can show yourself the way out.
quoted the wrong person but the reply was for the guy referring to darchinyan as a bum. he was good but limited and was shown for that vs donaire. dont start the internet tough talk referring to me as anything. we know where that leads. so chill out with your nonsense. referring to the darchinyan as a bum would be saying that arguably donaire's best win career wise was nothing. too bad thats the win that propelled him into the spotlight.
