On paper, does Canelo have a greater MW win than Hopkins? The curse of a dominant champion?

Hopkins was naturally the bigger heavier man. No doubt about that at all. I read Rios blew up to 170lbs on fight night when facing T Bradley but you wouldnt say he was bigger than Hopkins.

So Tito as agreed was a good P4P fighter but you have to take the fighter at the weight and division he was fighting in, so at MW Tito had one win over Joppy.
Jacobs at MW has won 5 MW title fights with a win over an undefeated former champion.

I think there is room for debate at MW


With Golovkin, I think due to sheer number of title fights and overall MW opposition that he would be held as a greater MW win

 

No one said there was any shame but lets not forget that Trinidad at MW against Wright was Wrights first MW fight and he completely dominated.
It was a very one sided fight at MW. May not have been so one sided at LMW or WW? We dont know but at MW it was a clear Wright win and J Taylor and Wright fought a close fight

 

You say easily dispatched Joppy but from what I have read there was a glove wrapping query (not sure if there was something wrong or not, just read various bits) from what I understand around that time and the Wright fight was very one sided and we know at LMW that Simon was victorious against Wright

 

Thats what I mean about long reigning dominant champs. I wonder if Holmes would have been the top MW if Hopkins hadnt have been fighting?
