My god I thought that was a horrible dream I had. That is exactly the kind of thing that will turn people to MMA. Definately on the same level as Haye tfights over a 10 year period. Pathetic.

I bet an entire class in Promoters school is devoted to those two fights. From the puddings that were fed to Haye on his 'comeback' to the tripe that was dished out in the press beforehand. All the ingredients for a massive haul of cash from folk who really should've known better.

Both guys had respectable careers and won belts, but their biggest payday in boxing came via the nonsense spewing out of their mouths.

I completely agree Holler. It really annoys me because Haye was dead to me after the Vlad fight. talking so much bollocks about decapitating both brothers and when in the ring did nothing. I remember after that casuals still lapping it up every time he did his sales pitch I could see through it like a used car salesmen trying to flog me Delboys three wheeler and telling me it's a Bentley. That just does a diservice to the sport in my opinion. When people compare Hollyfield to Haye it makes me choke on my tea. One is a warrior who demonstates persistance even when losing the other would sell you a fantasy time share that hasn't been built yet.

The first fight was actually a good fight in fairness.

Hence them getting it on again a few years down the line

But yeah, the rematch was absolutely ****ing diabolical.

Haye's speed, reflexes, timing and even power had gone by the time of the first Del fight so what was the point in a rematch ?? A quick cash out for the first fight while taking only a minimum of punishment was perhaps acceptable but once it was clear Haye had nothing left the second fight should not have even been considered.

Oh agree the first fight was pretty good. I think the problem was Bellew never got over that and wanted to drag Cleverly upto cruiser( which was never going to favour Nathan) after being shop worn . I look at it the same way as Hopkins wanting to rematch RJJ after being knocked the fudge out several times. Just meaningless the fighter can claim a victory over a near corpse.

Marciano-Walcott, Ali-Liston, Foreman-Frazier, Wlad-Brewster, Toney-Sam Peter (Toney robbed in first fight), Toney-Rahman (should never have happened any time).

Bernard Hopkins vs Roy Jones Jr II served no real purpose other than to let Hopkins get his win back.

Julio Cesar Chavez vs Meldrick Taylor II: Taylor was completely shot by this point.
