On this day 3 years ago George Kambosos dethroned Teofimo Lopez in New York.
Kambosos was a 13-1 underdog when he went to Lopez's backyard knocked him down and defeated him ending the takeover. It was a great victory for Aussie boxing.

For someone of Teo's supposed talent, he'll likely never live this one down. 20 years after he's retired people will still be saying, "Yeah, BUT he lost to..."

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

Teofimo kept going for the knock out instead of doing the work required to let the knock out come to him.

Lol :D That “Takeover” was nipped in the bud real quick by George. Lol Great performance by him. I heard from a couple of sources that George was in his absolute best condition for this one. Only other time he got to this peak form was the Loma fight. But styles make fights and Teo couldn’t handle top form George. If they fought 10 times I truly believe George would whoop Teo 10 times. Too much dog in him and got in Teo’s head easily.

I hope George gets back to this form again.

I loved the press conferences. Kambosos was so aggressive and almost maniacal when he was going after Lopez. I remember thinking that his mouth was writing a really big cheque that his ass would have to cash. But, the Spartan made Teo cash that cheque :D

    Just one of them

And then of course Kambosos cashed him out:

Big coincidence that the two are arguing on Twitter right now for a rematch. But Teofemale asking for too much money again as usual.

Not a big fan of George but I hope he can bounce back from the Loma beating and create another moment like this

Well, George almost got stopped by Teo who had a tear in his esophagus and air in his chest.

Although I was rooting for Teo, what I like about this one is that it was a legitimate win. By that I mean it wasn't a fight Lopez was winning and then Kambosos caught him for a one punch knockout. Kambosos earned this win throughout.

Indeed, like Tyson vs Douglas - its one of those upsets where you gotta give a lot of credit to the underdog for not simply winning via lucky shot, or the favorite under performing, but for the dog putting in a great performance their self!

Kambos big day in the sun. Which has set on his career. Back to fighting sailors on Circular Quay.

Just one of those performances were on that particular night he was on fire and couldn't quite replicate it again.. Kambosos.. but that was one of the best wins of the past 5 years no doubt.. no one can take that away from him despite all the excuses that's been made.. I've watched that fight three times and Lopez looks the same old Lopez in that fight.. he just got shell shocked that night.. great fight too.

I remember jumping on my seat in amazement when Kambosos put Teo down, It was an amazing performance.

I kinda pegged him for a one hit wonder though, knew Haney and Loma would do a number on him.
