On this day February 1990 Buster Douglass gives Mike Tyson his first L

Mike took some beating.

 

Remember it like it was yesterday, people never believe me when i predicted Buster to win, and my friends thought i was absolutely potty when years later i said Holyfield would beat him as well.

Even before Douglas beat Mike i had holyfield to beat mike as well.

 

I remember watching this when i was 8 and my dad and uncles where in tottal shock one of my earliest boxing memories

 

You don't have to believe me, but it is true.

 

Even with 20/20 hindsight that still is a ridiculous prediction.

Mike wasn't living the life, changed his team, looked awful against Bruno, getting dropped sparring, no Rooney, believed in his own hype, looked completely past BD.

Douglas had nothing to lose, he even said after a press conference after being asked was he scared when he first met Mike, not really was his reply, i just see a small guy with a lisp.

But let me clear this up, i too thought Mike was going to blow him away, i didn't predict it from the off, i just called it as i saw it at the time, as some people do with certain fights and sometimes we get it right, damn i should have taken advantage of the 42-1 odds at the time, although i did get a nice return on the Holyfield bout, that fight whenever it took place i always believed EH would win.

wasn't born yet but my dad recalled not thinking it would be much of a fight so he went out and recorded it.

he remembered coming home and rewinding the tape and thinking this is taking too long to rewind something must have happened
