It's hard for me to watch too. Never wouldve thought that Frazier would get destroyed that way

I wonder what would've happened if they hadn't stopped the fight, maybe Foreman would've punched himself out after 20 Frazier knockdowns lol

Frazier undoubtedly would have kept getting up and marching forward until his physical body failed.

A rare human in terms of self-belief and refusal to accept failure.

Foreman yelled at Frazier's corner....after one of the late knockdowns:
"Do you want me to k!ll him?".

Again a fight that demonstrates how certain styles or physical types can mean so much in a boxing ring. After the destruction of Frazier then Norton everyone knew Ali would be crucified by Foreman before they fought, and actually feared for his safety. But Ali' s psychological warfare and his mental and physical toughness allowed him to weather the storm, wear Foreman out. Foreman's endurance gets judged unfairly in my opinion based on the results from his fight with Ali. Norton and Frazier gave Ali pure Hell. Styles make fights....

I agree and disagree. I generally agree for Norton. Norton didn't have a good chin, easily exposed by big punchers. Out boxers were forced to deal with his skill set (Holmes and Ali).

Frazier was both past his prime and had the ring IQ of a bucket of rocks. A 206lbs FOTC Frazier that focused on defense in the early rounds might've beaten Foreman (that being said I just rank Foreman higher h2h).

Frazier simply didn't have the genetic power and chin to brawl with Foreman. He should've played to his superior stamina and defense (though that's comparing Frazier's broken bob to Foreman's nothing)

Had Ali not had a superior chin to Frazier, he would've been a victim as well. Foreman also didn't know how to deal with Rope a Dope, wheras Frazier has been seen pulling Ali off the ropes.

There's also the factors Ali abused for the fight, such as loosening the ropes and making the stadium 100+°F to play against Foreman's stamina

So I agree that certain stats of fighters can make huge effects, but I don't think it's from a style.

Wow....I guess Frazier has surpassed Rocky as the ESB whipping boy. This is about the harshest I have seen Frazier critiqued. Not even sure how to respond

I do tell my smart kid being smart doesn't amount to much if you don't have initiative and motivation. People that aren't as smart get ahead because of hard work, self-belief, and initiative.

Even if thats true about his IQ, he sure beat some guys who had a higher ring IQ...

Being one dimensional doesn't equal having a "ring IQ of a bucket of rocks".

Frazier only had one way, like Tyson, Marciano and plenty of others. He was hardly going to dance around the perimeter jabbing and wearing Foreman down.

For the record he and Futch did actually try the alternate strategy in the rematch but it wasn't Joe and was never going to work.

Foreman was still quite unproven and for all anyone truly knew one of those hooks might have changed the fight. No-one knew Foreman could shake off Frazier's hooks as if they were nothing going into the fight.

Again, styles make fights, Frazier met a fighter in Foreman that had the perfect physicality to neutralize everything he did well. That brute strength to push Frazier off balance, and then nail him before he could set his feet was a perfect demonstration of a fighter seeming born to defeat another fighter. (Also Hearns vs Duran can be added to this scenario) All the nonsense about Frazier having a fight IQ of a bunch of rocks is utter nonsense. And his low fight IQ didn't help 33 other victims, with his 4 losses coming to two men as a pro.

It was exaggeration for effect, I think I stated in the same comment of the genius of pulling Ali off the ropes

That being said, he was past prime and shouldn't have tried to brawl with Foreman

Sorry if I phrased that like an ass! Frazier is actually one of my favorites
