    Exiting the womb.
Wait no...i'm thinking of the Eubank fight 1993 not 1995.

It was an epic fight but I'm sorry. Been was out in the first round. That referee was a farce. Poor Gerald is in a wheelchair now. Such a tragedy. It was great but knowing what happened to him afterward, I never watch it. I saw it live and I found it disgusting how Benn repeatedly hit McClellan in the back of the head and once again, I hope that referee never worked again.

Great fight, tragic result. Reminiscent of Kid Akeem vs Robert Quiroga.

Benn was one tough *******. How he managed to come through and win that fight i'll never know.

Legendary fight but so sad because of the tragic outcome. When he takes the knee for seemingly no reason, very hard to watch.

Wat ched this fight on ITV LIVE! NIGEL, SHOULD OF BEEN COUNTED OUT IN THE FIRST ROUND THOUGH! Gerald, would of survived if that idiot sister of his did not demand him back in the us so quickly! I remember, that manny stewart & don king took a huge chunk of this guys purse! T here was a magnificent piece in boxing news many years ago, by a writer called jim brady. He, dissected the events & prior events to the fight superbly! Those two skunts steward & king, have a lot top answer for regarding gerald. I, may even have that issue in my archives too!

They were both rabbit punching and both were legit bangers. Gman had shown signs in his previous fight he wasn't right.
Its been reported many times that Gman was doing well in hospital before and I cant remember if its his management or his family insisted he be moved back to the states. He wasn't ready for the move complications set in

That blasted sister of his! The guy would of been treated for free in an nhs hospital! But she persisted in wanting him home. This was a contributory factor in his current condition . He was actually complaining of headaches after the jackson fights too!

I've heard different stories about the hospitals. I remember someone saying they waited to go to the US, but others said he was at the London hospital for a long time.

I heard about the headaches too. Although that can mean anything. Many people get headaches and don't have brain damage.

I wonder if all the weight draining caught up to him.

If anyone hasn't seen it I recommend they watch the documentary 'Fight of their lives'. Incredibly moving. Can't post links but its available on YT

That outcome was the result of long term trauma, not just the Benn fight. Yes, Benn hit Gman with a lot of hard punches and may have completed most of the damage, but gman fought Jackson twice without much defence and he sparred with heavyweights (well that is what I read).

The ambulance took a long time to get to the hospital, there was no equipment ringside etc. It was a farce and a perfect example of how Don King is one of the worst promoters in boxing history, which is saying something when you look at the shady f---ks that have been involved in the sport.

I was watching it live on ITV and remember saying "Gerald will rematch him and take him to the cleaners" before the terrible tragedy unfolded before my very eyes.
