    Thought i create a thread where you can post a fight or a part of boxing history (deaths,arrests,retirements etc) that happened on this day and then from tomorrow it be another part of boxing history etc. Bit like what they do on Sky Sports News.

    On this day last year Miguel Cotto returned to the ring after his first loss to Antonio Margarito. He returned to his spiritual home of Madison Square Gardens against our very own Micheal Jennings. Jennings put a brave display but Cotto for every second and every minute of the fight was the better man and stalked his prey until he finally broke Jennings down with crippling body shots.

    On this day Joe Calzaghe won by TKO in seven rounds at Cardiff Ice Rink against Armenian challenger Mger Mkrtchyan. On same bill Enzo Mac hammered Garry Delaney dropping the east ender 7 times with a display of vicious body punching.

    I can remember staying up all night with my mates to watch that fight, was only 15 at the time lol, arrrrr what good memories.

    In 2008 Wladamir Klitschko added the WBO Heavyweight title to his IBF and IBO versions with a 12 round Unanimous decision over Sultan Ibragimov.

    John Duddy ruined his chances of a showdown with Kelly Pavlik for the Middleweight Championship of the World after a terrible performance v Walid Smichet where he picked up some nasty cuts.

    In 2007 Robert Guerrero went to Denmark and won the vacant IBF Featherweight title with a 9th round stoppage of Spend Abazi.

    In 1997 Johnny Nelson went to France and won the vacant European Cruiserweight title with a 7th round stoppage of Patrick Aouissi

    James Toney and Mike McCallum completed their trilogy up at Cruiserweight, Toney winning a Unanimous decision over 12 rounds

    Arturo Gatti defended his IBF Super-featherweight title against the man he won the belt from Tracy Harris Patterson.

    In 1995 Richie Woodhall won the vacant European Middleweight title stopping Silvio Branco in 9 rounds.

    Whilst Duddy looked **** the fight against Smichet wasn't half entertaining!! Jim Watt was giving him a lot of **** for not boxing behind his jab though :lol:

    :D:good Cheers NO MAS. Hopefully we start to see some classic fight's and historical events, Articles and Videos as the thread gets longer.

    Big Ears :good some interesting ones there. Duddy blew it big time but saved himself from a horrid night with Kelly.

    Another cracking thread Mandanda - you on fire!

    But I'm afraid that my memory and dates tend not to go hand in hand (when's Mother's Day? It's soon isnt it?), so I will be mainly a spectator on this one!
